We have multiple teams in my store that have TMs from team leaders on down being asked to use PTO to help teams make labor. Meal while other teams are sitting on surpluses close ten grand. TMs from all teams are busting their asses too, some are getting screwed royally. Their system is terrible.

Yep, same as the other two that got out. It's out there people go get it! Having a set schedule and weekends off like the rest of society improved my life so much. I took a paycut from TL starting out but it was worth it many times over.
It's out there don't settle for wfm and the crappy chaotic retail lifestyle.
I'm not posting to brag either, I have good friends at wfm still that I've been trying to convince to finally take that leap of faith.
I got out after 10 years. I've got an office job also. I love it. My managers (not a spooky word) are better to me than my WF leadership. I'm challenged on a daily basis. My set schedule and piece of mind when I leave my job at my job- are priceless. Grab that office job! You are so brainwashed like they want you to be when you are pissing on others who took the opportunity out. Economy is booming. Try change. It tastes so much better than the crap WF dishes out.
Sounds a hell of a lot better than standing behind a counter all day with a hairnet lol
wow, an office job starting at 18.26 an hour? the American dream....next up middle management and all the headaches that come with it, then when your salary gets too high they lay you off for cheaper...grass isn't greener. And the fact that you got the position without a degree won't mean crap when you need one to move up.
wow an office job? the American dream...
next up? middle management!! then? the door for something cheaper.....
enjoy your office job for $18.26 an hour.
he's right, there is plenty of work out there, you just have to be willing to go out there and face tons of rejection and eventually get it. i sent out about 30 applications, actually got called and interviewed on 5 of them, got 2 offers after about 3 months total time. now i work 8-5 mon-fri in a beautiful office building, started at 38k, and get all the other perks that come along with grown-up office jobs like quarterly and christmas bonuses and flex time - no more bs gainsharing carrots on sticks or ridiculous work schedules that make your life chaos.
i don't have a bachelor's degree either, even though my position calls for one.
don't be scared to leave retail or the grocery business in general. you're better than you think you are and you'll NEVER be appreciated in this awful industry, ever. you'll be used up and replaced by another "unqualified" worker faster than you can blink - that's what they count on! there's no incentive for wfm to treat you well and so they won't.
I was talking tl yesterday about his labor. On normal years his team for the holidays would make bank in gainsharing..this year due to earnings-report-cost-savings his team is in labor deficit!!!! Even with the price increases and better comps too
Hey people: The recession ended several years ago. Jobs are NOT hard to find. Get the hell OUT OF THERE and apply for about 20 or 30 new jobs a day. Update your resume to stress your action, teamwork, accomplishments and positive outlook and you WILL get hired elsewhere. I left WFM almost two years ago when it was obvious the place was headed down the crapper and that no real reforms were possible at the regional or global levels. Management there is incompetent, defensive and full of a--holes generally. LEAVE! You will not regret it.
Hourly has been that way since the beginning of time. Yes be thankful you have a job and if you're not happy with the rules then aspire to be something more. Wfmtm's are the biggest babies.
At least you have a job. It is a tough market. Think about the shareholders plz.
Same in sopac. My hours are 36. Every ft tm is 36 or working on other teams to make up the hours if they don't want to use pto. If not then it's 30 hours
Sounds like one of the 9 started this post.
this has been happening for the past 4 years I've been in leadership in the ne. pressure from up top which leads to tm's using hard earned pto to be able to get a regular check. what a joke
This has been going on for awhile. We were always told to use our PTO hrs. If we wanted to make labor I had to cut my hours from 38 to 34 and sometimes 32 to make labor. Then I had to use my PTO to survive.
Nine years ago my store was run with 325 team members almost all full time, today with roughly the same sales it is runs with 130 team members , 30 percent part time. When the regional president was in he said, this store has lost its mojo. I guess he hit that nail on the head.
WoW, Wholefoods have no Mercy. Smhhhh
Whats that lawyers name again? He might have another case in the bag.
This sounds VERY familiar.
That is exactly the reason I left the company. We all worked really hard. Equally hard. When I had to start regularly using PTO hours to ensure my team (I was a TL) could work and pay rent or bills, while other stores, working just as hard, were pulling ridiculous labor pools, that was the breaking point. Ridiculous.
