Has there been any recent cutbacks or layoffs at Qualcomm in San Jose? How is the work culture there?

well said 1itm. I always wonder why people choose to live in the Bay area. Is it really worth it? I had a job offer there and I did not even pursue. It was NOT worth being house poor. Even SD is overrated and expensive unless you moved here latest back in mid 90s and bought a house then, which was still relatively expensive comparing to many other places in the US.
Agree with nkp but give it less time. Get ready to pay $10E6 for a crap shack or $4K a month for rent. And no, the salaries are not really higher to compensate.
5 years ago, QC SJ was talent-laden. The best engineering talent has left, and mismanagement has NOT rehired effectively. Management is severely talentless and innovation killers. I'll give the location another 3 years to turn things around, and if not, bye-bye SJ. The best jobs are being done in Taiwan now, and SJ simply manages their schedules.
I am in San Diego. Moving to bay area for personal reason and want to stick with QCOM for now... Easy move and look outside later.... So asking about San Jose center.
Why would you guys want to work for qcom in bay area. Is it because you are losers. There are better companies that are doing good. In san Diego we do not have any other option
Considering some openings that looks good and in my domain.. Any insight?
