Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Layoffs Humana at home

I got laid off today with a 60 day notice. Someone else on here posted that yesterday, too. Be prepared if you work in the Humana at home department.

Don't know if anyone is interested in this information but Humana has currently posted positions for PHC's, CHE's. The very same jobs that some people here got laid off from. I wonder if this is against the law in some way, and is that one of the ready in the severance packet you have to agree not to sue Humana post employment. What a Sh--TY, DIRTY A-- company

Not a good place to work. Coaches demanded you to have camcorders in your house. Apparently Humana does massive layoffs every so many years. I feel sorry for those left behind wondering when another reduction is coming, making job expectations impossible to meet to further weed out staff to not pay future severance. Humana gives false public perception of being a top notch company, but the reality is that employees are treated like crap, some managers are very professionally inmature, treat grown people like children, and has high costing benefits that you have to pay more out of pocket if your salary is more than $50k. Overall a corporate dump place to work.

Still trying to wrap my head around this cold and calculated layoff. I'm absolutely pissed off -SH PHC two yrs service. I'm telling my members to expect big changes I won't lie for a company that threw me out like trash. Thankful I have PTO to lessen the days I have to take part in such a miserable program. Shame on you HUMANA shame shame shame

The enitre dept of field CHEs were laid off, Field Care Managers in areas with low membership, all HCCs, all HCM-SSs and the rest were PHCs and CHEs with lower numbers...said all that to say if you were one of the "lucky" ones that did make the cut you are going to be worked to death...sounds like they are setting people up to fail so they don't have to pay everybody a severance package...you know that old trick where they make the meterics impossible to obtain and start firing people...smh

I am been working for Humana/Care Plus for over 5 years and we we're called for a "confidential " meeting at 10 am to tells that we will get a layoff because they are hiring people in PR to take our job then we we're told that we must continue working like nothing happens since Mbr shouldn't know what going on. Today we were called for another meeting with Mike Frank who was pretending that nothing happens and that we are so happy... I am so heart breaking and, disappointed because Humana throw us to unemployment line without consideration o thinking how it going to impacts our members.

Check the date. That 1400 layoff article is from 2010.

We had an all associate meeting today as well. We were told so far we would not be affected- the HCM RNs from SNP. We had questions he did not answer: how many total staff members were laid off yesterday, what departments-HCCP, SNP? What is the severance do you get, does it depend on your role? Can you take your built up PTO with you. I have been with Humana many years and also have short term disability. If we get laid off and don't find a job in 60 days, are we eligible for unemployment? This is a disaster. I am so sorry you all were laid off. My whole team is scared we will be as well.

Got the news about being laid off yesterday. I was going on my 7th year with HAH as a HCC, so I don't think it has to do anything with seniority or performance. I really wish that after that 10am call we would have been able to take the day off, but no, we were still expected to work like nothing ever happened. Terrible way to do things.

Happened to me last year . No rhyme or reason, besides favoritism I could imagine . Metrics good, no occurences. We were allowed to go home and we also had next day off . How can you work when emotionally distraught about what to do with your life? We were entitled to time off "on the company" to prepare for resume/ interviews , etc. I eventually went to another department. Career management helps a lot of you want it . I am grateful to be in a new department!!

With regard to educational and licensure requirements, I was over qualified by two educational degrees and no licensure is required for CHE position. Sorry, that cannot be the explanation for many laid off yesterday.

This is just heartbreaking. They chose people at random. HR4U said they hired an outside company to chose who was going to be laid off first. You don't let your top performers go if you plan on keeping the program moving forward. It's going to be interesting to see what is said on the All Associate call this afternoon.

Humana, as an insurance company gets funding through Medicaid and Medicare? Maybe the impacted people were in programs that were funded by different agencies that dictate the educational and licensure requirements, and that's why some many were impacted, and it wasn't related to performance or seniority

None of us know what will happen from here on out. A lot of the work was overlapping and bound to happen and the merger not going through did not help.

CHE. Was in that 10 am call as well. Good reviews meeting metrics. Makes no sense. We deserve better answers than a cold hearted group call. Not our fault the merger didn't go trough and they over hired. What ever happened to last in first out? Been here over 3 years.

I'm so sorry for all of those who were cut. What an awful way to do it and to have to continue working to get that severance package must be horrible.

3+ at Humana, said in the beginning this would eventually happen in the HAH division, too many over hires of PHC's, in the hundreds consistently over 3yrs, shaving off began before merger debacle, interesting individuals on consistent or intermittent FMLA were let go, against the law, talks swirling of lawsuits of unlawful terminations, anyone left Employed HAH div employment is on shaky ground no matter how great your metrics. Better start puckering up.

I'm an a SNP-HCC (Top performer-Perfect attendance) and our whole entire team was let go over a 10am phone call - then afterwards we were told to finish our work. Heartless upper management didn't have the heart to deliver the message professionally and didn't even allow us to take the rest of the day off to gather our thoughts.

Humana is cold blooded...laid off today as well. Damn over the phone...we had some robot with no connection to any of telling us we we're being let go. They had no regard for any of us today. So sad....

I was laid off today as well At risk PHC...I honestly don't think anyone is safe at this point, especially with the merger with Aetna not going through. They over hired and should have been honest today, instead of giving us some BS reason and dead pan a*% answers. I don't return to work tomorrow giving my all...they could have handled this better.

I don't think metrics explains all the layoffs. Yes, some underperformers but some were good workers. Seniority does not appear to be a factor either. I can't find any logic to some of the people chosen. PHC, we lost several on our team. My advice is get out asap if you weren't laid off anyway. Like the apocalypse; it's worse to survive.

The explanations that we're given in the meeting did not make any sense. There were a lot of individuals that are never any performance Improvement plan, had excellent attendance. If your Coach did not favor you aside from being a high producer, you were cut. I do believe picks were personal, and not professional. If you kissed a-- you were in the clear. Believe this is the first of others to come.

I'm an HCM RN and basically said if we don't meet our increasing metrics daily we are out. And many may be out already. Keeping it all hush hush- our coach barely addresses it and just said to focus on work. Angry!

CHE laid off after 3+ years. Good numbers, special projects etc. The segment leader said it verbatim that it wasn't about metrics, as they were letting some top performers go.

What is this 2 checks per month you are writing about? From the team I'm on (at risk PHC) it looked liked the people who received less then stellar reviews were cut. One hardly ever made metrics....

Humana thrives in quality for members as wells as employees. It has always been about numbers. You have to be a pro at 6 weeks. We change our life setting when working at home and adjust to this new and wonderful environment they speak of and half my team was fearful to talk. It is wrong. We were hired and humana started talking about a merger. They should know their limits...not make the employees suffer and it is 2 checks per month for amount of years you worked at humana is what i hear. What does that do for my health when i started down a wellness journey with humana and they cant even help me to complete it now. Back to square one. Corporate is what it is...corporate with no heart.
