These talks with HB are a lot farther along than you think. We are within 90-120 days of a takeover, massive store closures and more layoffs. The 2Q announcements are going to be ugly. If you're contemplating getting out, do it now. If you don't, you might arrive at work to find we're no longer Macy's and you're out of a job.
There is much talk of HB bringing in their own people, selling real estate and decimating us.

I am very positive that merger wont occur...HBC would absorb too much debt...I have read both their financials...Neiman Marcus will also be closing stores soon I believe...The talks with Macys and HBC will allow them to better strategize so both can gain markets share.. Thats all I think that will occur

Of course it will happen. Terry Lundgren gets to walk away with $85 million that he won't get otherwise, since the stock is in the toilet. Interesting that Macy's is now being compared with Sears. Who would have thought?
If the merger is in the works, it will be ugly. the amount of jobs that would pale in comparison by what happened last month. HB has a different structure. i would assume the safest stores would be HSQ, Union Square and all the other big city stores.
Go do a web search. There is an offer on the table from HB. Armageddon is coming. Bye bye, Macy's.
You need not concern yourself with my identity. A list of stores to close has already been commenced. This gets uglier as each day goes by.
Again...if you have families to feed...get out. You won't regret following this advice. Especially when the newspapers go crazy with the news. It's 90-120 days out.

as i do believe that this is possible, where are you getting your information that HB is going to acquire macys soon???
Not for the 68 stores being closed now. But in the future maybe yes.
with a takeover, would that change any sort of severance being offered?
