Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Engineers, Area Managers, and hourly are being stressed to the limit

Manufacturing is fixing to take another gruesome hit-- just an early warning: Start hunting for jobs on the regular basis. Myself included is looking for other opportunities. The job market is flooded in the greater Houston / Dallas area due to the mass of persons effected by the Industry as not just oil and gas gets strained but other entities are hit as well.

Restaurants, housing, hospital, outside constituents and very many others are involved in this loss that are looking for jobs along side us. The roll over in so large its overwhelming. Houston alone is looking at 550-600 more being let go. Engineers, Area Managers, and hourly are being stressed to the limit as to whom can be kept if anyone stays at this point.

Look for merging of work efforts and more than one hat to be worn by many and it's a flop deal if you can't wear the hat your in the line to go.

All I can do is stay at my station with my head down and work at my pace. I know we have had many of us here in manufacturing let go because of the conditions out there. I just stay quiet and work.

When and if the oil depression ever comes back the service companies will not be able to react. Too many people have been purged and the information is now lost not to return.

The crew I am on is too valuable for management to cut any of us. We are the best of the best and are needed for the new tools on order. We are safe from this round this time.

You just think you're safe!.....

You are very correct with your thoughts comments and concerns. I as long as others are being stressed and stretched to the breaking point. I have coworkers that are actively looking for another job because of how we are having to wear multiple hats as well as reduce time and cost. My coworkers are leaving and that just adds to the mix. When will all the chaos end in the industry. We are tired and drained and try to be safe but I am afraid luck will run out at some point and we will have a very serious accident again.
