The "New" Chevron Way

How much time and money is going to be wasted on this BS across the company?

We should rename it "The Chevron No-Way".

The new chevron way is for Johnny Boy to spend even more time on the links and miss more disappointing quarterly revenue conference calls.

Chevron is a breeding ground for mid level managers who spend all day harboring their internet surfing and fantasy football skills There is no passion within this company and the new hires are confused. The season engineers have all been layed off and the few left have no interest in training the young bucks due to job security

Obese majors like Chevron shell out millions on PC mission statements. The true culture is Lord of The Flys. Middle managers have jobs for life based on nepotism and their proven obedient silence on kickbacks and billion dollar boondoggles.

@7khx, This "New" Chevron Way will meet the same fate as the original version. The document is only that - words written down in a pretty brochure. We'll all do like we did last time... we'll pretend to embrace it, it will be brought up in OE moments at our meetings, our supervisors will require us to give examples in our ePMP's, yada yada yada. At the end of the day, and it won't take long, this "New" Chevron Way will turn out to be a failure like the original. We all know why.

It will be rolled out in person to every team in the company. This is your chance to critique it. Get on board, or shove off.

The policy itself doesn't phase me in the least. It's the dread of having to sit through countless OE Moments about this stuff that phases me. Hire good people and this isn't necessary.

But you sound like a typical HR dweeb so this is job security for your kind.

@3chu, Review your post again. The Chevron Way is NOT A POLICY.

People that require corporate propaganda and other gobbledygook in order to understand how to best perform their job should not be hired in the first place. I'm serious.

Is there anything in either version that anyone with just a touch of common sense wouldn't know already? Treating the employees like morons is not helping matters.

@1grr, Why would you want to bully someone just because you consider them a "redneck" in your tiny mind? I doubt if they consider themselves rednecks and probably are better employees than you, in may ways.

I checked out the website. It looks like the same bs crap from before. Full of liberal propaganda about diversity, multiculturalism, saving the environment and corporate bs about leadership, honesty and having only the best employees. I feel like I have to take a shower after reading that to get the Chevron Way dirt off of me. Only true believer snowflakes would feel at home working there. Everyone else just suffers through it on a daily basis.

@1ums, Why care about what the "New" Chevron Way says? We had the original version and that wasn't any good, so the solution was to come out with a "New" version. Don't worry or pay no mind to it, because it's only hollow words. It's no different from the first version we all read. Different words, but still the same crap it always was. Let leadership start leading by example. That should be the only way, but don't hold your breath.

Can someone here provide a brief description of the 'New' Chevron Way for all of us former employees. Thanks.

Why don't you try actually reading the new Chevron Way? It is actually fabulous. People who don't agree should be summarily fired. I'm serious,

@ael, I'm not cutting any losses and leaving. I can't care less about the PC crap they try to push. I'm too busy lining my pockets taking the high pay Chevron gives me twice a month and the side action I get each Saturday night as kickbacks from the contractors I hire in the field. Once in a while I'll get surplus job materials delivered to my vacation home on the lake, all passed over to Chevron on invoices to pay. Yes, it's all a matter of where you want to focus your attention. Yours is to complain about PC behavior and mine is about making a killing.

I tried to speak up. They gave me a 2- and wore me down. Chevron cannot be changed and if you really do try, they'll ding you on PMP. Much better to cut losses & leave.

Well folks, the market has changed so perhaps it's time to modify to take that into account. Focus on doing a good job and it will work out.

Because everyone accepts it and keeps quiet. Don't talk about the failure behind closed doors. Group together and speak out loud and clear offering solutions.

Stop accepting it and change the culture. CVX is not what it was and every one of your silence is contributing to it

The company lives and breathes this bs. Our great leaders and future leaders that are ear marked for promotions are all form over function.

it's not about telling how it is, it's all about how to "message it"

skw ... what have you done to change things? Have you ever spoken up?

If you don't speak and expect people like me to do the job for you while you keep your cushiony job, you are sadly mistaken. You want that type of behavior to stop, you need to take actions to stop it. It takes more than a few voices to make a change.

Chevron has nothing but slogans, mottos, mission statements, procedures with no oversight and management without leadership skills. That's the Chevron Way.

Like every organization, there are pockets in the company that abuse is out of control. How do you propose addressing the issue? Things cannot be left as is and there are large number of people who won't speak up. Those who do speak up are either forced out or it becomes a he said - she said situation. It cannot be ignored and the behavior cannot continue. As a company, CVX cannot command respect if it is unable to ensure respect internally.

There is an inability to see through the "story" at all levels of management or chose not to because of a deliverable requirements that is believed to take precedence.
