Let the Donald known when the layoffs start
Donald is building a wall so that jobs can be outsourced.
"Offshoring" isn't new, but curious to see how many Systems employees will be impacted by RIF in US vs other locales; I expect end result will validate previous posters comment.
Trump could care less, but if you think otherwise, don't bother w/ the hard address. Tweet loudly and often...only chance you have that it'll get attention.
OP, you do realize that the majority of ORCL employees work outside the US, right? 60% as of this evening.
Offshoring is without any doubt a VERY big part of this.
My team (not impacted by the cuts this time) was REALLY interested in getting some of the talent that will be let go this month. We are currently interviewing people in India, but were hoping we could get headcount outside of India to accept some transfers from Solaris teams that will be cut. But we were told right before the xmas break that the "Indian's only" rule still applies and we will still not be allowed to get headcount outside of India, regardless of the huge pool of people with exactly the skill set we want being let go in right here later this month.
There is nothing tying these people to Solaris for life. There are a number of other Oracle products and teams that would benefit greatly from the skills the Solaris people have. But we have been told we can not hire them in high-cost countries.
Oracle does this kind of thing a lot: It tells people being let go that they are free to look for other teams to join, but new headcount (including attrition replacement) is almost exclusively allocated in low-cost countries like India or Romania.
I'm sure Trump doesn't give a damn about these people either way. But I wanted to set the record strait. Anyone claiming that job shifting is not a factor does not have all of the data. We are currently hiring tons of Indians with exactly the same skill sets as the Solaris engineers that we will let go in the US and other countries later this month.
Funny thing, God doesn't think he is LE, although the inverse may be true. As for debate - it is always a good time to have a solid debate about bad behavior and hypocrisy, whether you ar an HR kcid s.c..r or not
And isn't oracle replacing well paying jobs with poorly paying ones
Stop being cry babies. Just because your time is coming and you are not prepared doesn't mean that its time for a debate. You already know who LE is and what he's about.
Right on 1 jxi! Doesn't it just look great that SC is eliminating American jobs with one hand and helping with the transition on the other! This needs some more public exposure and open debate .
When the apologists appear, you know that you have hit a nerve. They may be more worried than you think.
You and I are not guaranteed jobs. If you want a guaranteed job go out and start your own business. And see what its like to run your own operation and have to let go employees when you can no longer afford them or need them because you automated some part of your process.
This is not job shifting. It's product lifecycle issues. No way will anyone intervene to save jobs that no longer benefit the company. Get real.
Or maybe if employees who have been told that they will be RIFed on Jan 17 reach out to him he will intercede and save their jobs, who knows?
you'll get a "make america great again" gift. good luck ...
