I have been searching numerous sites in the last few hours and this is the seems to be the consensus:
DM positions are to be cut to only 5. For those 5 positions, whether you are currently there or another dept., you will have to interview for the position.
ASM's to be cut.
Store Managers and HR's went to a meeting near your store. First order of business was they HAD to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Lowe's being publicly traded stock, if they were to tell anyone, anything, that could effect the price of stock, and since they signed the agreement, they would be terminated and could be fined, imprisoned or both by the SEC. SO, your Store Manager and HR will not talk about what they know.
What is known to your Store Manager is to be released January 17th. They will NOT confide with anyone as their own job and freedom is at risk.
Receiving and Delivery managers are likely to be condensed to one job. One will be eliminated.
Your in-house credit coordinator is likely to be eliminated.
Your HR is likely to be condensed from an in-house to a traveling HR that will work at many stores a day a week, and called in as needed.
LP appears to be safe at this point.
Cut ASM's will be given a severance package. DM's will not. It is expected that DM's will be downgraded to Sales Specialist positions if they are open, if not to a CSA, if no position, they will go to Seasonal, and have to interview for a full time position. Pay cuts are expected to be 10% to these personnel.
Ironically, with Lowe's having the worst web site, 95 IT jobs were cut in Mooresville NC and in Texas. Any new IT positions will be filled by an outsourced office in India. This office is already setup and has immediately started taking over IT work from that location.
Lowe's still believes that their biggest competition is Amazon, so the push will be for online orders. LowesForPros.com for the pro accounts to place orders online for pulling and in store pickups with a guaranteed time. All sales online will not be credited as the store sale in order to promote the creation of these sites (just recall the purchase of ATG or Houzz and how you were "encouraged" to promote these sites to your customer base). Many stores will be setting up a customer pickup area where online orders are placed, similar to the layaway area in Wal-Mart. In some markets, the customer will not be required to come into the store, they will call when they are parked in front and associates will take the items with a loading ticket to the customer.
And management believes all will be well as long as you offer exemplary customer service, work your order management, and keep doing a good job.
