And you know why you were able to keep your job of 11 years without getting laid off: Your union. All these post are about people getting laid off and you want to quibble that unions don't protect people?

So why don't you start a Union, jackass? I you don't think unions are run like a corporation you are truly stupid. Glad I live in a right to work state.
Just to play devil's advocate, unions don't always have their constituent's best interest at heart.
Union YES!!
Unions are easy. Contact a union like Unite Here. Find a Union Rep. Collect signatures from other employees off company time and property. Get a majority signatures. Get a vote. Winning vote gets a Union. Company will fight hard to block you though!! They will make it very tough to organize a union and it will sound like those training videos!!
I worked for an union shop for 11 years, I would have hard time recommending it to anyone
Yes, this is right. Lowe's needs to be completely unionized. I was furious when I went through orientation and saw the anti-union video they show everyone, the one that ends by saying "We're not anti-union, we're pro-employee." Yeah, whatever you corporate humps, you're terrified of unions because they'll force wages up and cut CEO salaries.
Unions have never been strong in the redneck, largely ignorant South, where Lowe's started. They just don't get it down here...the unions helped build the Middle Class in this country, especially after WWII. Where do you think all this money to buy homes and vacation came from? Higher wages and more control over their working conditions, that's where.
I would totally support unions at Lowe's.
