Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Job Security

I've been a dept mgr for Lowes for years and not been promoted to support my husband's availability as he's a store manager.

I just wanted to comment on the bonus structure has dwindled down rapidly over the years and I think people are a bit clouded on thinking 'they' get extraordinary bonuses.

This change coming is hard and I think a bit backward yet there are a lot of managerial positions that allow too much opportunity for slack.

It hurts, the decisions that have been made but the change in structure should get more employees on the floor and hopefully engage some of these managers that forgot their purpose when they see no one's job is secure as an "at-will" employee.

Sadly yes it looks like your job is the one on the chopping block.

I've been with Lowe's for 14 years. I've been a Staff Salaried Manager for 6 of those years. I'm working my way toward retirement, I'm older than 55 and less than 60. I bust my butt, my shirt is wet most days with sweat while the "kids" find a way to do anything BUT work. Why should I have to now have to compete just to keep my job? Not just MY job, but ANY job at Lowe's. I might just get the pink slip. I gotta say, WTF? Right now we're all reacting to speculatory comments but it's getting more real every day. My back hurts! I feel this sharp pain right in the middle. I can only hope all the hype is BS.

Nobody is secure

Never was

Never will be

Get ready, trust in yourself

Everything will be, oh fine

It's just a job, boy
