Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Any other stores wasting time, money and payroll to wax the floors?

In less than a year we have had our janitorial contractor out to wax our floors three times. Our floors, which are vinyl composition tile, are over 40 years old and are beyond their useful life. However, Sears insists on stripping and waxing these floors repeatedly.

During the day, what little staff we have is pulled away from their regular duties to pull everything off of the floor. Everything from in aisle displays to large appliances, tractors and other heavy items.

Overnight, a couple of associates stay overnight in the store while the crew tries their best to "beautify" something that's way beyond beautification. These associates can't do much because the crew is working all night. So they get paid to sit at a computer to work on training.

Like I said, the tile is simply worn out. The floor looks unchanged the next morning. Six months from now, they will be back again.

Sears could have bought a new floor with the number of times they had the floor waxers out.

Yet another way Sears wastes money... I swear, Sears might as well be a Federal agency with the amount of waste and inefficiency in this company.

My Sears doesn't wax the floor that often but they do have to call the repair company for the escalators and elevator about once or twice a month. It is bad when the repair man for the escalators says he is at Sears so often that the company could save money by hiring him directly rather than call his company. He also told me that the reason they are constantly breaking down is becouse they are old, worn out and need to be replaced. Waxing the floors is one thing, but if the escalator suddenly jolts to a stop someone could be hurt.
