Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

my job

I found out last week I made the cut and my job is safe. I have a good rapport with my HR Manager and she told me that she is worried about her job later in the year when they roll out some new initiatives.

She also told me that I should keep my eyes open because macy's is a not a stable company to work for unless you high up, and that is not guarantee. They want cheap labor and the only that matter is results. I am lucky I am in a large metro area. What about people in small areas where there are not many jobs.

good luck!

It's the same in rural and metro areas. The company is not turning a profit because the times are changing, all retail not just Macy's. Retail is dyeing, brick and mortar stores will become the next blockbusters and Waldons books. Technology is changing everything. I was in Macy's IT dept got laid off months ago. I'm just taking my time and reviewing offers, already turned down a few jobs. You need to update your skill set to evolve with these changing times. Good luck
