That is correct. Any mention of severance refers to full time only. Part time get nothing, no matter how long you have been with the company. One interesting thing though, severance is based on total time served. So you could be employed for 7 years and 11 months as part time and the last month of your seventh year as full time and get 8 weeks of severance because you were full time when you were laid off and you had 8 total years.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but aren't only fulltime personnel entitled to severance? My store is closing; I have >10 years of service (currently part-time) and I, like 50+ co-workers, will be terminated with no benefits beyond the lightening of our wallets/purses thanks to the removal of our employee discount cards.

There is a reason Sears provides severance for mostly everyone, they are not doing this out of the kindness of their own hearts, it is simply a document that prevents future litigation insulating the company. That one severance document is probably worth hundreds of thousands to them - not bad for only 8 weeks pay. If Sears were a clean cut company they wouldn't need to provide severance which afterall is not a mandatory offering.
It just means you agree to not sue them for wrongful termination, now or anytime in the future.
