Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Ownership

It's very sad that a company of this scale denies its staff any sense of ownership in the business and that they are expected to get excited about profits or debt clearance that benefit just the MD family and its VC company. It flies in the face of bot technology industry norms and future cooperative employee trends.

There is no job satisfaction, with obsolete tools and technology.

Very little work at Dell storage NDC/MDC for years and lot of pay. I mean HUGE salaries.

Just hanging around for pay, so does many others here.

Oh, so right about only being at a large company for paychecks. Glad to hear you are happy at a small start up.

If you are not there for the check, then you need to reevaluate your position, because that is all you'll get from a large corporation. These people don't give one iota about you or your future, so do what you need to to earn as much as you can and then move on. This is a lesson I learned many years ago, working for a large corporation. I've worked for three now, and two of the three ended badly, but I was smart enough to put away those paychecks and bonus checks, and now I don't really need to work, however, I've moved on to a small start up where there are only two levels between myself and the CEO. It's a totally different environment and I actually enjoy the work as well as the paycheck and the bonuses, and am actually appreciated for the work, which is something I never experienced in a large corporation.

It is getting more cutthroat everyday. Orgs are being pitted against orgs, employees stabbing each other in the back, and a managers running around trying to justify their existence. I am developing my exit plan now and absolutely would love a layoff package at this point. Dell has become a hellish place to work.

Contribution does not matter. Be nice to managers, especially during review periods.

Life will be good as you continue to get free paycheck.

The beatings will continue until morale improves. Motto from Management to Minions.

Well, at least pain is predictable. Freedom is always a gamble. Not many have the stomach to play that game.

More socialization of risk (communism) thru layoff and reduced wages for thee, more privatization of profits (capitalism?) for me. Who exactly is astonished at this? Not very many folks see this as they feel trapped and excuses that spans the universe . Maybe most prefer enslavement and pain yielding to their overlords.

it is on a downward spiral, as the market shifts away from PivotalCF towards Docker, VirtuStream continues to bleed against Azure/AWS, Storage Arrays are in disarray (funny) we will start to see everything topple. Even Gartner is warning people to wait and see. O and I forgot they are 64 Billion in the hole. That's more than the market cap of Pure, Nimble, Nutanix, HPE and NetApp combine.
