EDMC Announcement - Thoughts??

Good Afternoon,

For more than 100 years, post-secondary institutions owned by Education Management Corporation have served the educational needs of students across the country. We proudly provide very talented and dedicated students with the opportunity to pursue their dreams and passion in a wide range of areas of study. We are able to do so due to the commitment of our faculty and staff who provide a great learning environment so our students can take their talents into society and build meaningful lives. With almost a half a million alumni across the country, it is clear that we have been very successful.

Today, I am pleased to reveal a further step in the evolution of educational excellence with the announcement of an agreement to sell substantially all of the assets of EDMC, including the Center, corporate offices, all faculty and staff at Argosy University (including Western State College of Law), “core” Art Institutes not currently in teach-out and South University to Dream Center Foundation (DCF), a not-for-profit foundation.

After careful consideration and examination of the best strategic direction for our schools and programs over the next decade, the Board of Directors and I came to the conclusion that the best way to ensure continued classroom excellence and student success was to enter into this transaction.

This deal aligns our organization and goals with the realities of the education environment in which we operate today. Our schools will exist as a not-for-profit, stand-alone entity owned by DCF, offering our campuses and students the chance to educate and learn in an environment divorced from the challenges of the for-profit sector.

The new organization is subject to several operational and other closing conditions and is also subject to the receipt of a number of regulatory approvals, but it is expected to be completed by late summer 2017.

I am very aware that a transaction such as this raises anxiety and that you will have questions. We commit to trying to answer each and every question you may have. I will start right away and embark on a two-week tour to hold town halls to talk about this fantastic opportunity and answer your questions.

This is a terrific and very positive step toward continuing to build on our success. It is truly a reflection on all of you and your unwavering commitment to educating our students, who remain our number-one priority throughout this transition.

Regards,

Mark

Hallejujah! We are going to be bringing the Lord's kingdom to the poor, uneducated masses! Praise Jesus! They will be so much more likely to trust us when they see us as religiously owned. We will still have jobs as long as we can fill those classes, God willing!

What's sick is...they make millions and when I was in Master's Commission, we had to PAY several thousand dollars "tuition" money to clean their churches after huge events, etc. We were the churches slaves and I know from my investigations that they are using kids in the same way to run the Dream Center as "interns" which cuts their costs tremendously.

I feel ill.

We have been bought by a cult.

I think this is a big plus in the long run. I'm not a practicing Christian but being raised Christian means I act Christian, which basically comes down living a decent life and helping others when I can. Education is the ultimate help. Goodwill has already moved into education centers so I think this is a natural and a much better direction than EDMC was on. The sooner we can lose those 4 letters the better: EDMC.

Will there be flux and change? Sure. Will I make it thru? Maybe?

I still think this is a good move.

Sincerely, Your Local Car Dealer

Statement of Faith

These are nonnegotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of God churches adhere to. This list is derived from the official Statement of Fundamental Truths. Click links below to see the complete original statement with scriptures.

WE BELIEVE…The Scriptures are Inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind.

WE BELIEVE…There is only One True God–revealed in three persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity).

WE BELIEVE…In the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s son Jesus was both human and divine.

WE BELIEVE…though originally good, Man Willingly Fell to Sin–ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world.

WE BELIEVE…Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God Through ‘Salvation’ (trusting Christ, through faith and repentance, to be our personal Savior). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…and practice two ordinances—(1) Water Baptism by Immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation, and (2) Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.

WE BELIEVE…the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a Special Experience Following Salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE… The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is ‘Speaking in Tongues,’ as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.

WE BELIEVE…Sanctification Initially Occurs at Salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christlike.

WE BELIEVE…The Church has a Mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe ‘the Church’ is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE…A Divinely Called and Scripturally Ordained Leadership Ministry Serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, to build up or edify the body of believers–the Church and to Meet human need with ministries of love and compassion.

WE BELIEVE…Divine Healing of the Sick is a Privilege for Christians Today and is provided for in Christ’s atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…in The Blessed Hope—When Jesus Raptures His Church Prior to His Return to Earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…in The Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace.

WE BELIEVE…A Final Judgment Will Take Place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire.

WE BELIEVE…and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. ‘And so shall we forever be with the Lord!’

A Dream of Changing Lives

Dream Center is a volunteer-driven organization that finds and fills the needs of over 40,000 individuals and families through approximately 70,000 encounters each month, with many accessing multiple services.

We do this through mobile hunger relief and medical programs, residential rehabilitation programs adults, a shelter for victims of human trafficking, transitional housing for homeless families, foster care intervention programs, job skills training, life skills, counseling, basic education, Bible studies and more. We work to meet people where they are at, to bring them hope and a way off the streets.

We’re also equipping others to serve. The Dream Center’s record of success has attracted urban missionaries and Christian leaders from across the U.S. and the world. As they volunteer with us, they gain insight and skills that they can take back to their own communities.

In this way, more than 100 independent Dream Centers have been launched nationally, as well as internationally. Many more churches and ministries have become more effective as we teach those who give their time and talent to do what we do. Many who once needed our services also go on to help others.
