Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Really CSC and EDS

This is really a merger of CSC and EDS, which were voracious competitors in the past. It be interesting to see how their cultures merge and how the people get along together....

The Execs will get along fine, there are more CSC then HPE/EDS ones now. They both like to cut the workforce, squeeze blood from stone, and line their pockets with bonuses/stock/pay while the actual people doing the work are left trying to keep the clients from jumping ship and/or bringing the services provided in house. The Exes only concerning themselves with Wall Street and the stock price (share holder value was touted all the time by previous HP/HPE CEO's). I see none of that changing nor the Execs concerning themselves with the common employee's problem. Protect the fiefdom, line the pockets, share holder value!

The OLD versions of CSC and EDS had culture: an actual philosophy they lived by and treated their employees well. They recognized service meant people and ownership. The new versions of each company are just empty corporate shells making money for the top execs and offshoring everything else. They want to replace thinking employees with "task robots" and use "talent optimization" to make American workers extinct (except themselves of course).

"The biggest difference is compensation package. That will be shocking to HPers. CSC says pay gives no raises, for years, has no accrued vacation (old EDSers will remember it is up to your manager...), no serverance and the company's contribution of money put towards Healthcare will shock you !!!"

They claim that this is a merger, not a buyout. Has it been said officially that CSC's policies will be put in place?

Well regarding the shambolic way that the CSC part of DXC have managed their redundancy programme is an indication of how they manage IT project, than all I can say is "Buyer Beware".

Culturally they will mix just fine. Through the years there has been alot of inbreeding (managers moving from EDS -> HP -> CSC ) bringing Policies, practices, etc. with them. Everything bad about EDS, was the new and best at CSC (even if it had been discarded at EDS).

There is still alot of Covansys influence. Convansys was an India company and CSC acquired them about 10 yrs ago bringing an insta-offshore. CSC is WAY ahead of HP in offshoring and has Visa's down pat. Consequently lower wages onshore. (LOL, They came up with a great L3 Visa plan rotation.) Even onshore Americans are a minority and treated like that. Managers where I worked were ALL from India. It took to Level 2 before, an American was on my management chain.

I don't think anyone actually gives a stuff any more. We've all had so much change forced on us that whatever comes down the road these days is accepted with a big sigh and just got on with.

I certainly don't know anyone who in all seriousness mourns the passing of the old because its just same shizzle different day, different logo.

The cultures will mix about as well as oil and water. This is by design; senior management will note how the rank and file are not meshing.. giving them more justification for layoffs and increased H1b hires.
