What facts have you heard?
I know that the DM's are meeting tomorrow & GM's are meeting on Wednesday. GM'S typically have meeting on Tuesday. No delegates are allowed and the meeting is at 8am vs our standard middle of the day meeting.
I've heard a wide range of things and I know I will find out on Wednesday but like everyone else I want to prepare myself. Cutting positions last year was tough and not something I'm looking forward to.
SO... what have you heard?
Got my paper today....burst out in tears at the meeting and couldn't breathe....Worked there for 12.5 years and watched them keep positions that do a quarter of the work i do.....I am the main support for my family....How do i tell my 7 year old son that I don't know if i am going to be homeless a few months from now....
Got my call this morning from store GM, all RSS jobs r gone. Feel so mad that this company treat us like numbers so shameful
I have tried really hard to feel good about working for the company and take pride in it. I was hired 1 year ago. First converted from ES to RSS, and now have nothing to look forward to. This is corporate taking the easy way out, AGAIN!! I feel like they just dont care about us, our families. Apparently it was a "Business" decision. NO IT WAS A MAXIMIZING OUR PROFIT BY SCREWING THE EMPLOYEES DECISION!!!!
I was a very high ranked executive at VZW. I experience my co workers (Executives, directors, Presidents talking about people like they were numbers and their lives did not matter. I was casted out for expressing my opinion ( By the way #1 producing team- so they could not touch me) I jump out that ship and got back on a company that respect their employees and care about the community.
We all should have joined the union last year when we had the opportunity.
My mother worked for Verizon for 19 years, she was head manger for 9 of those years. After having some health problems she had to step down and became the operations manager. which she has been doing for the past two years. She could easily run the entire store and has had to step in and help the mangers many times since stepping down. She has always loved working for verizon and would have kept working there til she couldn't work anymore. Even with all the changes that have taken place this past year and all the added stress that the company put on its employees she still supported them in every way. So when she got a call from work today she never imagined she would be losing her job. She is truly heartbroken over this situation. Verizon didn't give their employees any kind of warning or notice that this was going to take place. She is 55 years old and the though of having to find another job is terrifying for her. I have truly lost all respect for Verizon and will be ending all my services with them.
This really s---s. I lost some really close friends Today!!
No job is safe here at VERIZON.
TO SEE MY COLLEAGUES BURST IN TEARS AFTER HEARING THE BAD NEWS WAS JUST HORRIBLE.

A got a call from my GM early in the morning. Today was my day off. Tells me that I don't have a job and wanted me to come on down to go over it. I never saw her cry so badly. Verizon Wireless used to be a great company but now... not sure about that anymore. It's all.. erratic and reactionary vs leading the charge.
I keep hearing mall locations will be assumed by indirect. True or false? In in Philly market
All RSS positions were cut today. About 1-3 people per store. I'm sorry to all this has effected and thank you for your hardworking time and effort throughout the time you were with the company. Very sad day for the retail team.
This is confirmed. My son received his walking papers after 12 years as a hardworking loyal employee. He has a baby due in the next few weeks and no job to support her.
This is horrible. Because of the RIF that happened in 2015 and in 2017, Verizon has the most poor image in the consumers eyes. A company that I once loved and trusted and worked at for 17 years is now the most saddest excuse of a company that I have ever seen. VZW has gone downhill since 2015. When the CEO Lowell McAdam had a choice to lay off 50,000 employees, OR MAYBE find another way to reduce 2 Billion dollars off the balance sheet (THERE WERE OTHER WAYS ) He choose the easy way out. NOT TO MENTION, but doing this, he got a $12 million dollar bonus ( this is public record, my spouse found it on a tech website)
This company used to value it's employees, NOT ANYMORE....DISGRACEFULL!! I'm making it my mission to tell every cell consumer that I can about VZW and how they treat employees and to port to T-Mobile, Sprint, ATT,.....even cricket, before staying with VZW
Cell Techs and Switch Techs are being laid off too. Ops managers as well. Nationwide. "Reorganizing" aka trimming the fat. Hopefully the network doesn't suffer too bad in order to compete. The last round was just the beginning. This is the new culture.

I've been with big red for 16 years. I found out from a phone call, from my GM, on my day off that my position is no longer a position. 30 days to find another position out of state or severance.
I am an RSS and was told my job is being eliminated nationwide. I have till May 5th and am offered a severance pkg.
Things go in cycles...back in the early 2000's they closed majority of the stores and service centers. Turned their sales over to third parties...like Radio Shack (we know what happened to them) Best Buy, Circuit City, and others...Then they had this earth shaking vision...Open the VZW stores in every small and large mall and do the sales inside again...Many idiots were patted on the back for that foresight. Now its back to layoffs and store closings...And, they still don't have a clue!
Seems like retail senior analysts are being let go. Not sure how many though.
Just heard from a Client Partner @ WBG that they are cutting 5% of Client Partners, basically 1 per team. Not performance based, supposedly module based. If you have a big module you're good. If you have a small module, update that resume.
I'm an SM and was just let go and so we're the RSS and most SM positions. I don't see how the stores are going to function when we were already short staffed as it was. I think this is just the beginning prepare for all corporate locations to be shut down and assumed by indirect channels and look for more internet based social media based sales channels. This is my guess of the direction of the company. Get out while you can the ship is sinking.

Verizon is the Titanic, got laid off last year, when the first lifeboats went. Stupid company making poor decisions like buying out Yahoo & Aol, and "great ideas" like Go 90 caused this. The people in charge of those decisions should be the first to go!
