Buyer beware in Kmart stores that are holding liquidation sales.
The stores are still pushing Smart Plans on anything electrical, grills, automotive, sporting goods, power tools, power lawn and garden. Only problem is the Smart Plan will not be honored because the item is final sale and purchased from a liquidating store. The register system at a normal operating Kmart will not allow the Smart Plain claimed item purchased at a closing store to be returned for merchandise credit.
Michigan Consumer Affairs is currently investigating this.
Liquidating stores are also refusing to process Smart Plan claims for items previously purchased while the store was operating normally.
