Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

I don't know if

anyone reading this blog is an Avaya partner, but doesn't it seem strange that NO ONE can answer this question for me: Where will I be buying my networking products from going forward?

Seriously, as a partner, will I be buying Avaya technology from Extreme? or from Avaya as a reseller of Extreme? If Avaya is a reseller, will I be paying a higher price than if I go direct to Extreme? If so, why would I buy from Avaya? Will I have access to the entire Extreme portfolio or only the Avaya portfolio? What about branding - will it be Avaya or Extreme? After the networking business moves over, will there be anyone at Avaya who knows anything about networking? Where will I get my support? What about WLAN? Will I be buying the Avaya products from Avaya or from Extreme or the OEM? What about support? Will Extreme keep developing the Avaya products or will they try to migrate me to Zebra? So many unanswered questions and NO ONE can give me any answers. I can only say that I'm happy that MY leadership is working on a "PlanB" with alternative products in case this doesn't end well...

You'd better wait a few months time, until this will be official. If Extreme is the winner of the auction or not. By then details should be clear.

You are not getting an answer because honestly no one knows. Assuming that Extreme wins the auction (or are only bidder) the question needs to be answered by them. WLAN will not be continued, it is rebadged Xirrus to which Avaya funds a handful of developers to work on their (SPB) enhancements and their customer fixes. Extreme will not maintain that relationship, they have their own WiFi (Zebra). If you have or sell Avaya WLAN you need to speak to Xirrus.

Good to see you recognize it is not business as usual.

Avaya will no tbe selling the products. Once data networking is sold off it will no longer be an Avaya product. The new owner will re-brandline and sell it as their own product. There could be some reverse licensing deals for a period of time in transition or for sub-components that are embedded in Avaya UC products as example.

ammm, you would buy it from the same place you always bought it. Avaya will still be selling the product, they will just be buying it from Extreme.

The fact that you are asking a blog because the manufacturer teams responsible to Partner support can't answer your question should be all you need to decide.

Avaya Business Partner, what does that mean anymore? They were never Partner centric. They just make big promises.

Clearly this is from the Cisco hacks pretending not to know what to do and putting down another vendor that he has no clue about. Typical me-me Cisco , I'm the best.

If you have been a business partner, you know what to do . The questions are dumb.

most of my partners (former CAM) are already hedging with other vendors. Even a partner that swore against Cisco is now committed to selling their stack.

tough times for a BP at Avaya!
