The Unum CIO held a meeting yesterday to announce that they were backing off of the significant outsourcing plan. We will now use external partners "strategically." There were a number of questions trying to determine if this was simply a postponement of the actions, or if it was indeed different. The answers seemed to be recycled political speak with little substance.
So, for the time being, they don't plan to lay us off. This is no guarantee they won't change this position in the future. It seems like our CIO is the chief architect behind this. I got the impression that she was instructed to change course. That is my impression...not direct knowledge. The DOJ issued warnings earlier this week to US companies who hired H1B visa holders at the expense of US workers, and she held a meeting the next day. Coincidence? I doubt it!
Stay vigilant. Our primary issued secondary protocol instructions. Thanks for the contributions!
