Would nice if everyone used regular English instead of Wally Word-speak. I can't tell if you are talking about home office or store level, I'm new, hate it, and WANT to get laid off and spend the next 6 months lifting weights and traveling on the UI dime.

Do you think the merchandise assistants being tanked had anything to do with the new data management team?

So (hypothetically) as a merchandise assistant, I trained 4 people, who knew nothing about Sam's merchandising, to do my job?

Then the two of the four that really seemed to catch on quickly, gone out of the blue. Leaving 2 of the most frustrating winches, who really have minimal understanding of the job and are horrible to work with, taking over for all of us merchandise assistants.

Or if you count our promotion to merchandise coordinator we got a few weeks ago. What a crock of crap, all if it just shows how much they really care about their "partners"!!!

there is no money being put back into stores or clubs. don't know what you could be talking about. in what capacity do you expect that money to be utilized in stores?

not sure where you got your info that all that money saved from job loss is going back into the stores. that just isn't so.

I hate hearing about job loss. Thoughts are with all of you at this time. As a shareholder I'm glad to see more money put inside the stores where they have registers.

It's funny how they had everyone hang in the cafeteria while the MCs packed their sh--. Like wtf is this, adventure club?

We had many young and old get let go. I guess it was a pretty even spread.

@MFbH7mA-1rce, I know it doesn't help right now, but at least you are young! Employers want younger workers who are skilled and talented like you! Take deep breaths right now, and lean on friends and family for support. You will rise above this, as devastating as it feels right now, it will get better. Network with vendors and others, you can find a better job with a company that will value your talent. I too felt just like you did when this happened to me, I was absolutely heartbroken. I had just received a "role model" across the board performance review, and was told no one ever in my area had received a review that high. I was in absolute disbelief when I got laid off. I worked my butt off each day for years and years...None of it matters, it doesn't make sense. Focus on what you can do to move forward, don't look back.

The opposite happened in my category. The older ladies got let go, some 20-30 year tenures, it was sad. Everyone was crying and stuff...

Well in my division they "promoted" a bunch of older ladies that can't keep up to be PCs. Truly, I feel like they're clearly being set up to fail...but regardless, they prob won't be going anywhere anytime soon, thus no openings for god knows how long. I feel like this whole thing wasn't thought through AT ALL.

Yeah...if s---s for sure. I think I may be just foolishly optimistic about the situation. I wasn't in the job even a year yet so...

Can reapply under what new title? PC?

Yes, it's true. Merchandise assistants are being let go and can re apply under the new title.. if there is an opening. Im sorry for your loss... It's not over yet. More to come.

21% of the sams club HO was let go today. I would assume the majority of that was the merchandise assistants/merchandise coordinators. I was one of them and I am absolutely livid and extremely saddened by this. Myself, along with many other MAs, worked our butts off with hopes of moving into an assistant/associate buyer role. They let go of a LOT of potential today. I was not only managing my category's marketing, promotional planning, transition planning, and pricing; but I also owned a $20M subcategory. I took over the subcat about a year ago and in that time, grew it from a $12M/subcat to over $20M for the rolling year. I know this wasn't performance based, but that doesn't make it feel any better. I dedicated everything I had to this position and was given false hope and promises or being promoted for several years. And considering we just got "promoted" from merchandise assistant to merchandise coordinator literally ONE MONTH ago, nobody would've expected this. However, when I look back on it, there were so many clues. They gave all of our "busy work" to the SIC/PC role and told the new MCs that was so we could focus on higher level tasks and professional development. BULL Sh--. it was so we could focus on teaching the PCs how to do everything, just to get canned a few weeks later. I never expected to be experiencing this at such a young age. Especially considering the amount of work I had taken on, and the loyalty, trust, and dedication I had put into my job. I understand this was out of my leaders hands and that my buyers and director had no clue until it was too late, but that doesn't make it any easier. I guess I just expected more of the company. My heart aches for those that were effected today. I hope the others are handling it better than I am...

Thinking some folks are confusing assistant merchandise manager at a Sam's Club with a merchandise assistant for Sam's Club at Home Office.

Yea, everyone that was an MA got transferred to another role a few weeks ago (MC or PC) and the MC role was entirely eliminated today.

Not to my knowledge, no. Though I did not think I would've been let go today.

I'd say it's safe to assume marketing is safe. The lay off for merch assistance seems to be a few months in the making since our change in leadership.

I'm not lying lol..I really did get fired fromSams Club home office along with 25 people in my division.

MC is the new title for merchandise assistants(which they laid off company wide today)

GMM is the title of Senior Vice Presidents(2 steps down from CEO)

Why would I lie about this?

Post ID: @1vnv+MFbH7mA

I'm an assistant at Sam's and I have heard absolutely nothing about this. What is a GMM division and what is a MC?

Means lost their jobs... Cut the person some slack on the typing, he or she lost their job today, they are probably upset.

Sorry for everyone losing their job!

I don't think this is true. Rumor from what I see.

I was a merch assistant at Sam's club(or as of recently a Merchandise Coordinator) and I was laid off today. My entire GMM division of MCs were laid off, and I believe they were all laid off company wide.
