Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle continues to close systems and hardware support

Another round of layoffs started today. Support engineers in Solaris/Network and Disk domains in Poland were laid off along with hub agents.

More layoffs to follow next week.

Spain is next, followed by other sites in Europe.

The rumors are that next country is France.

Management has suggested to apply for jobs in the center hubs, which means if you do not find a new job in these locations you will be fired and if you do move you loose all your build up benefits.

So if your working 20 years in Europe and move to the USA they can fire you next day without getting anything.

Besides going on a L1 visa to the USA right now is not really very interesting.

So little by little nothing in Europe survives but Romania, in Asia focus is India and some locations to please Trump in USA. I wish Oracle luck with all these non experienced engineers doing high end support Oracle's clients are going to love it for sure they will sign a lot of new contracts because of the great support.

@MLq1b27-djnl: Very true, I work in Support and I googled everything. I don't even care for MOS or the action plan from the TSC....horrible crap. Yet, there are metrics to measure how many people are using MOS and following the action plan from support. I guest management needs to show why they have a job at Oracle...make more work out of nothing.

So, now we see who some of the replacements are. There is no way we'll be able to help our customers with anything beyond what a quick Google search would have told them anyway. What was once one of the best support teams in the world under Sun is now completely dead.

Few companies are buying new hardware nowadays. Most businesses target 100% public cloud.

@@MLq1b27-tbh :: Yes, they will do that eventually. The office space there was rent till end of June -- this is another reason to close that site.

Support will be relocated and centralize in Support Hubs.

The heads that get fired will be hired again in Support Hubs. For EMEA it's Romania. There are a few support Hubs around the world. It's all about cost savings and centralizations. And no, Oracle will keep doing HW.

No matter how hard oracle denies it, it's getting out of the hardware business. They are merely trying to milk it as much as possible while shutting it down with as little public attention as possible, so in steps, drip, drip, drip. Whether you're a customer or employee, don't be fooled.

@@MLq1b27-ail If this is true so that means they will shut down Katowice office.

20 so far. Another 25 to follow next month to avoid triggering mass layoff labor code rules.

Spain will be even uglier.

Yes, I heard about that too. It seems that over a half of all people in Katowice and some in Krakow offices got fired. Seems like Global Support is going over and over down...
