Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Day 2 for Qualcomm

Jeff Bezos may be a tool, and Amazon scks for lots of reasons, but in the context of Bezos' letter to shareholders, Qualcomm is well into "Day 2". Everyone knows this. Customers know this (Apple called them out on it). Shareholders know this (they've been asking them to split the company to save the tiny piece that still has long term viability). The sad name on the sad stadium broadcasts loud and clear of an era long since past. The people at the top scking it dry as long as they can know this. They will never catch the lightning in a bottle again (Paul tried and tried and failed). Irwin was the only source of the magic. The best they can come up with is to merge with another company in Day 2 and see what happens. But the real fun is going to start when the Americans realize how incompatible the Dutch culture is with their way of working - sure, you're aligned at the top, but I'm talking about in the trenches where the work gets done. Have a seat and grab some popcorn and stroopwaffels, ladies and gentlemen. This is going to be epically FUBAR.

What's Day 2? Read about it here:

Day 2 ... lets talk about business and maturity. Lets think about other companies that died and others.

Think about Blackberry... they had several warning signals and didnt change. On the other hand, GE is often changing and adjusting is businesses. CISCO now is trying to moving their focus to the IT service (something IBM did and succeeded on that moving). What I see is Qualcomm breaking some silos, reducing some staff and benefits and preparing itself to future and growth. That doesnt mean a company can survive Day 1 ... but it is still Day1! Grow up guys...

Qualcomm is not in Day 2, they are more like day 5! they fight their customers, they fight their suppliers and there are so many silos in the company, it is crazy.

Qualcomm shares are close to a 52 Week Low, they must pay Blackberry $815,000,000 in Penalties, they face a major lawsuit from Apple, are being investigated by The Federal Trade Commission and other agencies and countries for Anti-Competitive practices : not looking at all good for QC.
