Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How many employees in a simple store format?

What percentage of employees are left after changing to a simple store format? is the payroll expense significantly lower?

I think that the simple store concept for Sears will eliminate ASMs/zone supervisors/leads and just have a store manager and one assistant manager to manage hardlines, softlines and backroom. Office associates may be eliminated with their tasks falling on remaining management.

Salespeople will be hourly. Softlines will not have MCAs and cashiers, they will be all one team--this has been done already at many Sears stores.

I have a feeling that the cuts in payroll for these two weeks are a dry run for the real thing. Sales associates are having to ring at the CAC and help out with trucks, as does management.

Any new initiative starts on the Kmart side and then rolls out to the Sears side within a few months. Sears will soon have the simple store concept implemented along with eliminating any commission sales jobs and all employees going hourly instead of salary.

The Simple store concept actually is a good idea but it is about 7-10 years to late to make a difference.

The Sears in Pittsburgh should consolidate to 1 location and then have the "2" Simpletons work there....the DM and the midget Market Leader

Same at our store simple format isn't working we are an larger store and one particular night they have two sales support for up and down stairs the irony is one was trained to ring and the other wasn't. Store manager was told this and they said well this person can ring the register but, you can't put one person in two places and forget about help elsewhere nearly impossible. Still amazes me sometimes what comes out of a persons mouth and this is a store manager but, I guess if their pay or isn't personally affected why should they care.

I am a manager at a Kmart store on the east coast. The simple Store process is good in concept but with the staff to pull stock from the overheads it makes the store look cluttered and messy. I cannot speak of all stores but those in my district are working with little to no staff. On a weekend day we have at most 8-10 employees all day 5 max at one time. Impossible to run a store like this
