I'm hearing rumors of 5/4 for a 2nd wave of layoffs, to include specialists this time round.

Take my advice and get out now. The guy that you need to watch out for is Ronan Dunne, Verizon's new Executive Vice President and Group President of Verizon Wireless. Are you familiar with his background? He was the CEO of Telefonica UK for eight years. While he was there he helped to grow it to the second largest wireless carrier in the UK. How did he do it? Simple, a little bit of this and a little bit of that, and A LOT of outsourcing. They outsourced THOUSANDS of their jobs. And you can bet that Verizon Witeless' plan is to do the same. It's already started. 5 call centers shut down this year, IT jobs are being outsourced, retail has been hit and continues to be hit. Next will be the indirect account managers, followed by operations. The writing is on the wall. I saw it a long time ago and finally grew the courage to leave the company after 17 years of service. Start looking now, because you could be next.
This is very frustrating. I've been with the company 13 years, switched from ccr to rsr (years ago) which saved me from getting axed last fall. I hope these cuts end soon, it's definitely creating a negative mood in the stores. Especially when management is literally micro managing and doing hardly anything to help grow sales. Let's start there then move to reps. Wish everyone luck next couple weeks!
From what I'm feeling there will be cuts made to both the SM and SS positions and if you are on displinary action, you will be gone. DM has already let on on this, it will also be done according to store productivity which is down all around with the stupid quotas and a 40% reduction in traffic over the past 2 years. They want to know why numbers are down? Customers are waiting for a sale, last time this year we had numerous BOGO offers, now nothing.....
I never understood the logic of the bottom percent solution specialists layoff. So lets say you get rid of the bottom 15% of solution specialists. You then immediately create a new bottom 15% of solution specialists....when does it stop? Now Solution Managers on the other hand.... lots of dead wood to trim there after the last few years of expanding number of SM positions in stores, especially the "career" Solution Managers.
There's a lot of shuffling going on with the big reorg. 5/4 apparently is a date that HR has set for the final announcements. Beyond that, hard to know what will happen but a few more heads are likely to roll.
Should had got rid of the bottom 15 to 10 percent long time ago. Would had saved some employees job.
Where are you hearing about additional layoffs? I've heard nothing regarding this while I heard a ton of the RSS stuff well before it happened.
Nope. From here on out quietly close stores down 1 by 1.
