A wicked witch of a manager, who ran off every one of us in ASM and lead jobs (most positions more than once) in a mere two years, is leaving the company. The store, which will remain nameless for the sake of undeserved discretion, was the leader in its district in sales and profitability until this manager took over. My friends who remain say the replacement seems to be nice, and probably won't repeat the pattern of belittlement and name-calling of management personnel in front of associates and, yes, even customers. Should I have stayed? No. I had a head start to get my good job before the entire company comes crashing down. But for those who remain, congratulations on being able to say good riddance to the dragon lady.

We were blessed (cursed) occasionally over the years by overly ambitious managers in our district who had no people skills and were occasionally fired for cause or led away in hand cuffs. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

There is only a few of us left that actually survived the dragon lady's reign of terror. By far the worst manager I have ever worked under. The 88SEARS number is a joke because after many calls from many associates she continued to cuss at us, lie to us and force us to do things her way even though her way was wrong. Shame on Sears and Eddie for allowing such an abusive manager ruin what was at one time a profitable store with a happy family of employees.
The headline is right. Any improvement is only temporary, as there's no long-term future for the company. But congrats to the employees who are rid of the evil at the local helm.
