Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Need help and opinions

I work for a company that was sold to a company that uses DXC for most of their outsourcing. Anyway the new company is moving a number of us to DXC as employees. We have only 2 weeks notice on this and still have not seen the DXC employment contract we have to sign. From what I can see on this site I definitely am not happy about this turn of events and no matter how great they are telling us this is I do not want to work for DXC. Unfortunately we are being offered no severance and told if we do not accept this offer we will not get unemployment. So here is the question, does DXC have a non-compete clause in their employment contract? I need a job to pay the bills and keep a roof over my head so I am thinking on signing the agreement, work for DXC, and look for another job asap. What I am afraid of is they could block my employment with another large corporation if they already have business relationship with that company. Any hep is appreciated.

It is correct that the non compete clause is not enforceable. I've seen exec level employees leave time and time again and go to competing companies. Do what you plan. Move over to DXC and get out as soon as you are able to. Good luck to you.

The non compete clause usually means you can't go work for other out sourcing firms that compete against DXC for the same contracts, generally sales positions or technical sales support jobs where you could use your knowledge of DXC to get a competitive advantage on sales gigs.

take the gig and then find something better.

Non compete clauses are a scare tactic. Unenforceable. DXC hire and fire at will they have no lien or hold over what you or I do once we leave be it voluntary or through redundancies.

Do what you plan to do. They cannot stop you resigning at a later date and going elsewhere
