But.... There's a pretty big group over 40 and several women and minorities too.
This is not a hostile note. It's a shout out fir help from the top. And it's not a Delk vs. EMC rant. Dell is a great company, EMC folks are getting pushed out by lowed paid Dell folks who want the higher paying EMC jobs. EMC managers aren't protecting their teams because they are afraid of getting labeled as hostile. Loads of the EMC management who would have defended their teams and recognized skill levels either left the company a few years ago or have changed roles to protect themselves. Names of aged and minorities are put at the top of management layoff lists or comp for this same group is affected to try to drive voluntary attrition to keep headcount open for friends or political allies.
EMC's Bill S. is an amazing sales leader but he's at the mercy of folks who are not likely telling him facts about what he should and needs to hear. The only reason several EMC folks have stuck around is because of Bill. - and I'd add Frank H. as a reason to stick around too.
If Bill and Frank leave after the integration is complete- the exodus of remaining EMC talent will follow them.
I doubt Bill S or Frank H are reading a layoff page, but just in case someone is reading who can carry a message back to them-
Please let them know we are struggling. Our valued players are being benched for a new team who is indeed talented but in most cases still too green to harness the entire enterprise. Michael D is entitled to recoup his investment Stop the EMC bleed of layoffs before it gets worse. Inspect the names closely when they are deliver on layoff lists. Recognize the strong history of your players and support us in the field. I'm barely over 40 and worried about my job. I've got too much experience behind me and a bright future ahead of me. I'd like it to be with Dell EMC but like many of my peers over 40 , and for no good reason, nothing can change, I fear that ship has sailed.
Thanks for your time.
