Earning is helped by layoff ($100m restructuring). Cloud business growth is helped by Netsuite acquisition. It's inorganic growth. I wonder what the real growth without Netsuite. Hardware sales is down by 14% again which means more cut is needed to bring the HW division to break even.

Why are the two oracle CEOs not required to hold and why do they not hold significant amounts of oracle stock? Doesn't that give them the totally wrong incentives?

Analysts are cherry picked ahead of time. Those that ask the wrong questions get on the naughty list and are blacklisted.

What is oracle's STRATEGY for doing well in the cloud? Not goal - $10bn, STRATEGY - in other words, what competitive advantage(s) has oracle developed that will allow it to be better than competitors? Or does oracle simply propose to have a lower price than say AWS, in which case what are the margins going to be - surely not 80%?

How many people were laid off in consulting in Europe/ replaced by Romanians ?

@MflTXhI-2hgd

regarding the consulting business, I don't know in the US, but in EMEA, many Consultants were layed off and replaced by people from romania.

Reason is always the same, replace skilled but expensive people with cheap and rookies.

That's oracle strategy by now.

Customers are not happy with that, but the exec people located in redwood shore don't care.

they seat on their golden treasure like Scrooge McDuck.

Can you give us some color on the layoffs in the GBUs - does this mean that oracle's stearegy is to be an undifferentiated provider of generic SaaS software? The whole point of the GBUs was to provide industry specific expertise, but with layoffs is that now going away?

What is Oracle's thinking and strategy when it comes to the consulting business, especially as it relates to cloud? Is the consulting business strategic? Is it profitable? Is oracle planning on keeping it or is it going to be shut down by end of FY? What would be the reason to keep it going?

Last earnings call SC said that oracle will have an 80% margin on cloud. Questions:

  1. At what level of cloud revenues?

  2. What' included in the 20% cost, what falls below the line?

  3. How does that 80% margin compare to cloud competitors such as SFDC, WorkDay, AWS, Google, and if different why?

Forget about OpenSPARC, the microprocessor industry are using x86 or ARM architecture. Qualcomm, AMD, Broadcom and a few Chinese companies all making ARM based processors. It's fast and cheap enough. They don't need to invest in OpenSPARC architecture.

Please explain this contradiction: Oracle's CEO (at the time) was/is the major investor in NetSuite and SFDC, respectively, yet oracle was very late to take cloud seriously, why is that ?

All major corporations announce layoffs upfront, incl timing and number of people affected; oracle does not. In fact it has been suggested that it tries to hide layoffs by breaking them up to abound triggering WARN notice requirements. Why is oracle so determined to hide the fact that it is laying off thousands of employees?
