Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

CENTURYLINK is planning on selling out to VZ or ATT

After they get rid of Level 3, why do you think that they are selling all of the data centers? Hello. They are in as much debt as Level 3, so why would they buy more debt? XO was Level 3s backhaul. Verizon now owns XO. They will sell all of Level 3 and CTL buildings in probably the next 2 years. None of you are safe. Both Companies. Centurylink will do away with the union and management. Be aware, over 50k layoffs on both sides.

I suspect VZ and T are delaying 5G, which eliminates fiber lease payments, which cause CTL to stress because they cannot sell there copper plant, which reduces their potential Revenue but expenses stay they same...which means they will have to sell off something valuable, possibly their much revered Fiber Backbone Plant.

Since CTL future revenue plans are nearly solely dependent upon TMUS, S, T and VZ paying them to lease dark fiber, if someone with a vision that can be sold, offers a cheaper price for that Fiber and CTL needs the cash to pay its shareholders and debtors, they may have to fire sale their best and only asset. No monopoly violation , no congressional or legislative approvals and expensive hoops to jump...just cheap fiber a 5 G company can use without a lease.

Just a thought...dont know, but we've all seen companies do this to avoid the costly state by state legislative expense.

I find it hilarious folks threaten to leave if layoffs happen. What do you think is going to happen? The floor of your home is going to open up and swallow you in a huge revolt against Centurylink? funny stuff...

Stop saying stupid sh--. AT&T not Verizon want ANY copper markets. Windstream is having financial issues too. They can’t afford to borrow a nickel with a dollar collateral. They are robbing Peter to pay Paul. And Frontier is barred from any more acquisitions for 4 years. Call center workers are screwed. It s---s for them. Technicians have it a little better as long as they have a decent contract and all of them stuck together.

XO is not Level 3's backhaul; rather, it's the reverse. Level 3 had a much larger network than XO. Take a look at the company websites and online maps.

They are offering to send people home during the day; excused time off. Quality has gone down the drain. Sometimes, scared to go work days feeling like my days are numbers. Trying to look for a new job, but not easy. Higher you make, the harder it is to find the job based on the pay.

Ive been hearing rumors also. I believe the center I work for in the mid west will be closing also and many people dont believe that. We have had quite a few changes around here and more are coming. Our jobs are not safe.

I have heard rumors from both ATT managers and other sources that they were informed Centurlink areas are being sold off to Windsream to purchase Level 3, Don't think this would be good for my position at Centurylink.
