Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm Workforce Behaviors in 2006

I had a friend who worked there until 2006. He changed teams and on the new team, he decided to work his a-- of to "prove" himself. He accomplished all his assignments and even took on extra work that quarter, wow wow! Well, his manager took him into a room and said, "Look we are almost to the point of putting on PiP, you work so hard you are making everyone else look bad, I don't want you to do anything extra next quarter - just QUIET DOWN". Well, he did that - towed the line - slacked off - and got a huge bonus and new stock options!!! THIS IS THE COMPANY WHERE YOU WORK TODAY !!!

You are so correct !! The last program at Qualcomm that was well-managed was Globalstar (1997-2002, roughly) !! My friend had just left another division where only the lying, not-delivering people get to do projects, the lying, not-delivering person took a 6-month project, turned it into a 3-year project, and failed! My friend retired from Qualcomm now, they got out before TSHTF. Before Paul Wasted $10B on useless Iridigm factories in China.

Situation is still same or even worst in 2017.

I was working with GPU team till last year , worked my arse out but ED has his own philosophy of sidelining hard working guys, bringing weak leadership to top and making sure right credit is not given to hard working folks and weak leaders enjoying all benefits.

as good people leaving, such sick people are coming to top and making things much worse. there is lack of vision, technical expertise every where.

there is almost zero innovation, creativity. every team is playing game of passing hot potatoes to blame others for failure.
