ACA may be cheaper but it's a risk with the GOP intent on ending it. If you pass up your one and only chance to lock in COBRA, counting on ACA, and have any pre-existing conditions you could end up totally uninsured and uninsurable. So far it looks like they will not prevail but no guarantees until 2018 at least

Oracle's Cobra option s---s. You are much better off shopping for your own coverage plan.

If you have the top end plan at Oracle, it's going to be shockingly expensive when you combine going from employer subsidized and paid for with pre-tax $ to all on you and paid for with post-tax $.

The ACA can be cheaper, but you'll probably end up with worse coverage. It's up to you and how quickly you expect to find another job.

the point being that Cobra is extremely expensive and probably much more than care under the ACA.

When I got the boot in 2015, there was info on this in the 'GTFO' [get the f**k out] packet I was sent. Things may have changed, but at that time, there was a Third Party Administrator located in Burlingame CA handling Oracle's COBRA enrollments. Essentially nothing changes with your coverage, you just pay the full monthly amount that the company pays and you pay the TPA, not Oracle. You should be getting a letter from them and a chance to continue your health/dental/VSP forms from them.
