Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

UCS....

Put a fork in it. It's done. I'm tired of hearing my VPs chant "Innovation! Innovation!" in a Balmer-esque manner. They still get their giant bonuses and millions in stock.

Layoffs are coming in the BU. Hyperflex teams are getting headcounts (even after repeated failures). The orginal TME team leaders for the BU have their next jobs lined up. .. right from the top.

This is going to be a blood bath with pink slips served to anyone that does not s--- up to management.

Bonus are already cut to 25% of what was given last year. Travel budgets are now restricted. Our HR partners have been told to line up names in San Jose.

Do the stock buybacks serve anything for the customers or employees? To me it seems its meant to keep mutual funds happy and elt huge rsu intact.

Rsu for employees rank and file has become very rare except well connected cronies.

A lot of cronyism seems to start very high up and span a forwarding chain to 1st level mgr.

A wholesale cleanup from top town might help but even new leaders from outside seem to bring their own gang in

Perhaps its the nature of human institutions to fail beyond a certain size and age unless oeriodic reset buttons like neo in matrix are created

Why would best talent available in the industry work for this ELT?

We do need to innovate but focus on best talent available in the industry. Stop hiring H1-B from outsourcing companies.

UCS QA - has too many Tech leads. Techleads think they don't need to work or file bugs as long as management likes them. They get the junior engineers to do all the work while the tech leads attend useless meetings and take credit for others work.

Cisco is filled with politicians & snake-oil salesman. If you have a problem with that, work for another company. The culture is not changing.

We sell boxes & acquire companies that pose a threat.

You're probably cool enough, just don't know the right people. Should've studied less CompSci and more PoliSci

Technological scaling is indeed all about innovation. I personally don't have a problem with a genuine executive leader wholeheartedly pressing for new innovation, and then they strongly being rewarded financially if their driving vision becomes reality.

What I do have a problem with those in power whole put self preservation, political posturing, and quest for personal wealth; before the goal of innovation. Especially when many people under their trust, who really want to be innovative, are instead financial LR kindling. For many in the trenches, yes the money is indeed nice, but it really has been primarily about innovation and simply getting cool new stuff to really work and be adopted.

Glad I could help play my part here, really sad to go...but looks like it's finally time to be kicked off the playground and go play somewhere else.

Not angry; just wondering...why ain't I cool enough anymore to be in Cisco club?

May those that still want to lead for the right reasons...to be truly innovators...and not politicians...the company really needs you right now.
