If you lost your job on 1/17/2017 (ASM), how are you doing now?

I was one of the many ASM's that lost their job on that fateful day. I didn't qualify for unemployment, so I spent all my time looking for a new job. I fall in the 50+ age category. Almost 30 years with the company. Moved to three different states for them, uprooting my family every time. Was asked to come back but would have to pay back the severance package, loose my tenure and start at $12.00 an hour.

Found a new job and started on 3/13 so I was only out of work for about two months. BUT during that time I was getting so depressed I didn't know what to do and it was getting uglier everyday. Fortunately I have a very supportive family and friends base who helped me through it. You don't know how many times I felt I was a failure and just wanted to make the pain stop anyway I could.

I'm making about $18,000 a year less and it is a very physical job. I'm working but I'm also continuing to look for something better.

I didn't qualify because i received a severance package and I had so many continuous years with no breaks in unemployment.

I am still there, but now working 10 times harder than i was, and i did bust my tail as a DM. Now, I can't find any of those "seasonal" employees, so I am doing the work of 3 people. A few of the people that were promoted were either sleeping with or related with the upper management. Shuffling of jobs also happened, right before the change happened. A position opened up and not wasn't evem asked in for an interview and we sit there every morning talking about pushing these 7s. We go without inventory for weeks, since noone is keeping up with it. I have put in numerous resumes and nothing.

Why did you not qualify for unemployment? Just asking because I am a temp. Ex-dm with very little possibility of getting a specialist position or something else. I see nothing opening up in this store.

And never think of yourself as failing, lowes failed you!

Glad to hear you have something. Still looking myself. My sev. package is gone, didn't get much. Keeping at it.
