Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

Grass roots this year?

What's the over/under on if they send out the survey? In the area I work, people keep quitting. I'm afraid if people score ours honestly, our team will get some visits from HR, which is never a good thing. Our boss would super fun to deal with after that, too...

But what if people give poor scores but don't speak up? How do they know who scored what?

The survey is only used to determine who the malcontents are. Walmart does not care if the scores are low. Malcontents are then targeted for retaliation, including layoff. Our boss has had very low scores with several different teams over the years, so low recently HR came to visit; no one cares. Everyone who spoke up and told the truth was retaliated against. Good people can find jobs with another company, no one should suffer bad leadership.

They don't care about grass roots or survey any more. Who are you kidding?? They just want you to think that they care.

I almost think refusing to answer the survey sends a stronger message than giving bad scores. If tons of people refused to answer, I wonder what would happen.

Well where I work if you are 40 or older, they treat you like an idiot and start looking for ways to fire you. At least it feels that way to me. I've seen so many in these waves of layoffs be older (good) workers.

I just saw the article about workers being afraid to take time off if they are sick. That reporter ought to start talking to all the people who have recently gotten laid off at HQ. I'd be interested to know what the makeup is of people over 40 as a percent of these last four or five waves. I believe it would be high.

Yeah. I wouldn't recommend. No job security from one day to the next.
