Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

5nm

Oh, let's see this fold...

IBM's 5nm chip could quadruple battery life

IBM, in partnership with Samsung and GlobalFoundries (which manufactures chips for Qualcomm and AMD, among others), has developed a process for building 5nm chips.

This is just plain marketing BS. Anyone who would believe IBM, is going to be taken for a ride (just ask Warren Buffet). TSMC will rule for the next 2-3 years, there is no other foundry (except Intel) that will have 7nm, Samsung and Global are at least a year behind. What does that mean? Well, it means that TSMC will have pricing leverage. Apple will crowd out Qualcomm for TSMC capacity, sell your Qualcomm stock NOW!

The title says "could", does not mention anything other than SoC, does not mention process current yield rates...So I would ignore, but keep my eye open on the related news to follow.

At the end when the process is ironed out, all including us will be going to global foundries for the same. I see little value in being the first adaptor of such a process especially when we are short in other areas of investment.

Research wise; great to hear/read about this, awesome.
