Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Didn't want to believe it?

We just warned investors about profit margins. Stock dumped another 7% to new lows. More cuts, layoffs and store closures are indeed coming. There is no good news coming out of Cincinnati right now. And there won't be for a long while.

Mark my words: 150-200 stores closed by the end of next year. Lists are already being analyzed and created. Malls being evaluated for strength and traffic.

Associates who think they're going to be safe for the long haul should get themselves together and find a job now, before a blindsided closure is dropped.

Pain's coming, folks. You thought I was kidding. Some of my posts removed. Haven't let you down yet.

This company is TOXIC beyond words. As a store executive with over 30 years of service, I got out 3 months ago. (Officially retired) There is no such thing as "integrity always" with M. Over the years....the lies.....s-xual harassment.....having a boss who could not keep his hands to himself.....the discrimination by AP......unprofessionalism.......the list goes on and on. M is clearly targeting employees over 50 regardless of your title. GET OUT NOW and take your 401K with you!!!

Not all Macys women shoe departments are going to open sell just small doors. Some are going to what is called FSS or full selling service which consists of interacting with customers on the selling floor with a hand held device. You send a shoe request to an associate in the stock room who retrieves the shoe or shoes for the customer the salesperson then retrieves the shoes in a designated area and presents them to the customer. And by the way the salesperson will be getting there commission rates lowered under this new system from 9.5% to 8%

I heard shoe's will go to open shop by late august. In large stores, it is not the whole department, correct? At HSQ, women's shoes is a consider one of the 7 HSQ stores.

Other than store closures, what else have you heard? Are they going to cut more corporate positions? Somebody in this forum mentioned HR in nyc will be cut?

Out of curiosity in trying to determine how creditable this info is are you an acting executive, associate or corporate employee? Again just curious as you seem to be someone who is so informative.

So to be compliant with WarN they should be giving layoff notices to shoes this month since that's 60day or not?

Regarding shoes/cosmetics: it is my understanding shoes is to go open sell by end of August. Cosmetics has not been decided as yet, but I would think by end of calendar.

To answer previous post: store closures. No other company is going to buy this out until it hit bottom. And we are on that slide.

Packages? Never again. I would be double shocked to see packages in the next round of firings.

So in your opinion what's more feasible buyout or store closures?? And if we go the store closure route do you believe there will be packages for executives or are those days done??

It's patently unclear as to what's going to happen next and when. At present, corporate decision making is compromised and unorganized. There is a list of closures being created that could get to number 200. Vendors are upset that we are dragging their stock prices down, not ordering as much, and not paying for what we order.

Discussions are beginning regarding self checkout kiosks.

This ain't your father's Macy's anymore.

So should we anticipate any changes or closures in June or are these big changes going to happen in our usual format of the closing at the end of year??

I agree totally with you ,and you think backstage is the second coming forget it to little to late.imediate closings should be done before Christmas.this is serious.maybe if the stock closes lower yet maybe there will be a takeover.
