Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Laid off from Chevron, would I be able to rejoin as contractor?

Would someone be able to help me answer this.

Your odds are as good as winning the lottery. How is that for an answer?

Yes, but you can be "blocked."

You should contact as many professional recruiter placement firms as possible. Your odds of getting an actual positive response will be higher than just emailing resumes to whatever opening you see on the internet. The placement firms often have openings from client companies that are not publicly posted and can do much of the employee screening that can help in bypassing the client company HR department. Of course, don't just stop with the resume mailing. The placement firm is just another resource to increase your odds, however slim they might be.

The previous poster just read you the party line. In actual practice your chances of returning to Chevron as a contractor or employee are slim to none.

You can go back as a Contractor. However, there is a waiting period. There is also the Bridges Program for retirees. You can find out more about theee options by following the links to Chevron"retirees" site.
