20/20 is usually trash, but tonight they're profiling John McAfee. Recall Intel negotiated with him to pay $7.6B for McAfee Security (and sold it for less later). I would love to have been in the conference room when PSO and he met face to face. McAfee would have made a great Intel VP in meetings with all the Intel lifers. Girls, Guns, Murder, Boats and Scandal. This guy belongs at AMD with Jerry Sanders, but somehow PSO and the board thought this was a match made in heaven. Doesn't get crazier than this. BK has been fleeced by Mobileye but no CEO compares to this guy.

I still think it's funny that Intel had the McAfee name on their building when all the Belize craziness was happening. The public doesnt know that he wasnt still involved, and he was the founder, and Intel still sold products under that name thinking it was valuable.
Recall too how McAfee trashed the products and did a wild video about how to uninstall them.
I'm just amazed that "Intel Security" thought the McAfee brand was valuable after all that. Not much confidence in their own branding and marketing.
He reminds me of the other silicon valley ceo Henry Nicholas of Broadcom. I think he's in jail now. Jerry Sanders was tame, or at least hid it better. He wanted to be Silicon Valley's hugh hefner and is probably the same age .
Intel acquired McAfee with the thought that when they made inroads on mobile and tablet market they would bundle it with the device but it all fell apart when no one wanted a device with Intel Inside.
John Mcfee sold the company long before the Intel sale. Intel did not get fleeced - it did not know under what or why it bought the company. There was no business plan or strategy behind the acquisition.
The guy is one can short of a sixpack.
