Thread regarding Centura Health - Avista Adventist Hospital layoffs

50 employees fired today, June 6, 2017

Avista Hospital has let go dozens of hard working employees. While managers were aware of what was to come, they remained silent as the parent company, Centura, swept in and fired employees in outpatient therapy, and, even shut down their coffee shop. Beware. Bottom line is what counts to them. Certainly not, individuals. Christlike behavior? Check again.

Laying off people is never good news and much like taking a band-aid off, best done fast. The question is what is at the route of the financial need to have these layoffs. Could it be too many medicaid patients and the rates paid by Medicaid are too low to stay financially viable?

It is perhaps the attitude of being unwillingness to turn Medicaid patients away when the amount paid by the government are not sufficient to sustain jobs and service.
