Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Lots of vacancies and shifting around of Sears store managers...

My district has eight store manager vacancies out of 25-odd stores. Store manager positions don't exactly have the come-and-go type of turnover that other retail positions have, it should be a stable, well paying career for a longer term.

I've noticed that musical chairs are being played with store managers being shifting around the district to different stores 30-50 miles away from their original store. I think about five to seven of them were shifted around. I wonder if it was voluntary? Or was it forced?

What's going on? I don't know about other districts, but we don't have "lifers" that are close to, at or over retirement age. A lot of our store managers are in their 40s and below, some are in their early 30s.

I can only reason that they are seeing the writing on the wall and leaving in droves. I don't know the reasoning behind the "musical chairs", though. That's odd.

not really... could be intentional to get them to leave on their own to avoid severance payouts - every little bit helps fast eddie
