Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

The real reason for Lowes layoffs

Lowes wasn't going for better customer service! They were going for saving them selves money! They started in late 2014 laying off full time, long time, people with long time experience, that made good money for any reason they could write you up for.

That kept up thru 2015 and 2016 then in 2017 when they had honed down a lot of the the employees that made good money and benefits. They started with the management. And all for better customer service.

How is that done with part timers who don't care about the company they work for and at more than half the pay with little or no bennies. Those that worked for Lowes know that they have lousy training.

I think Lowes overextended themselves buying out other stores in the US and out of the country and cutting out highly paid and highly trained from years of experience was a way of helping pay for their expanding .

I hope you are a troll that is a over paid executive of lowes. Because you sound like one. "Of course shareholder value is important". But if your 1/4 over 1/4...results continue to s--- because customers are leaving..lowes is not too big to fail. Long list of retailers that thought that way. It's a bell curve it will happen.

I wonder how much of this has been caused by canceling the Sterling project after they sunk nearly one billion (yes that's billion with a "B") in to it and have nothing to show for their efforts.

Sterling was/is the windows based software that was to replace the present Genesis system. FOr the amount of money that was wasted on it Lowe's could of had a system similar to what home depot has.

Lowes is at the start of a process of decline. It happens with retailers throughout time. Long list of retail company's follow the same path. Just look at sears/kmart. Customers come into home improvement stores because they have a repair or problem that needs to be fixed and they expect an employee to be knowledgeable. Guess what it cost money to have knowledgeable employees. Lowes will begin to figure it out with poor 3rd qtr results. Just watch and see. Code 50 to the strawtrailer.

They care about $ - not service.

The purpose of the company is to make money, not to make customers happy.

We may reach our objective of making more money by doing good customer service, but that's just a tool that will get us where we need to be:

MAKING MONEY FOR SHAREHOLDERS.

Also, we are not here to make you or me happy. It's the shareholder who matters. You and I are just numbers. On a spreadsheet, so not even on a printed piece of paper, we are just a few dots on a screen that can be turned on and off.
