Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Amazon and nothing else

Now Amazon is price matching anything and everybody. Sears couldn't compete then and won't compete now. The company is over folks. It was a good ride.

2ddi- Amazon does not delay shipping on purpose for those people who do not have Prime. The reason why Prime shipping is so much faster is that Prime items are in an Amazon warehouse somewhere close and they can get it to you in a timely manner. Many non-Prime items are items sold by third party vendors who have three days to ship the product. Sears and Kmart.com is filled with third-party vendors.

The $99 price is clearly stated when you sign-up, you have to give a credit card number to sign-up, you have to check the box if you want the membership to auto-renew. So your telling me that Amazon got your credit card number, signed you up for Prime and you didn't know. IF you signed up for a trial membership then it clearly states (as most every trial membership to anywhere states) that it will auto renew unless you cancel.

As far as hiding the Help/customer service link, the link is on the order receipt and at the bottom of the web page (just like any other website, including SHC and Kmart) You can email them, or do as I do, have them call you directly. It will take less than 30 seconds to talk to a live person about your problem (go ahead try it) and they will take care of your problem by either sending a new item (and you can get the new item before you return the old one, and they pay for the postage to return) you can get your money back (even from a third party vendor) or exchange and item. Try that with Sears or Kmart.com. I hear complaints all the time about customers not getting refunds, not receiving their merchandise, damaged merchandise, wrong merchandise. Try calling SHC service and see what an experience it is to talk to multiple people, lose your connection, be hung up on or not have the phone answered.

And for $99 I get Prime movies, Prime music, books, magazines, Twitch games, photo storage, discount photo printing, music storage, free shipping on anything including groceries. Are they perfect? No. Do other stores do some of the same things? Yes. But very few do it better with as many advantages. Not a Prime pusher, just wanted to show just how far SHC is away from the leader in the industry and how much money and innovation would need to be invested to even keep up. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

Sears doesn't price match any online stores, only big box retailers!

@2ddi...sour grapes from a poor loser. You just don't get the future. You still think think because someone drives miles to a store and deals with some minimum wage clerk they are getting good customer service. Sad you just don't get it.

What is your point? I am well aware that Amazon is doing much better than Sears.

What is the message you are trying to deliver? Do you work for Amazon or Sears? Should all retailers just give up and stop doing business? Are you afraid to compete and lose or win?

Idk. Amazon stock was $1001 a share today. What was sears? And Sears stock was only up because Eddy was buying.

You can bash Amazon all you want. I will take a company that is trading at a $1000 a share all day long. The customers don't seem to mind. They don't need their CEO buying their stock to stay afloat.

1suu - Amazon fan boy. So do I understand you correctly that hiding Help/Call link is an indication of a great customer service? Do I understand you correctly that charging a customer $99 for Prime without letting them know who much they are being charged is a normal practice for a retailer? If Sears was doing that you will be all over this discussion board crying how terrible Sears is.

Yes, Amazon does a good job but they do have issues and they are not perfect. As I am not a Prime member Amazon often delays shipping intentionally. As a shopper I do not like this treatment. Would you?

It is just amazing how some people are amazed by an online store that delivers merchandise via mail. Are you aware that there are 1000s stores that do the same? Oh yeah, I forgot Amazon announced drone delivery a while ago... they must be good.

Hype is good for business.

Lol @ Amazon's retail being barely profitable. How profitable was Sears retail again?

Sour grapes from a poor loser.

Amazons customer service is amazing. Large items they would arrange pickup at no cost if there was a problem with the item. Apparel return shipping was free.

You didn't get tricked into Prime, you failed to read. It's not even fine print. You just didn't bother to read.

Customer service is 2 clicks from your order. You can email, chat, or they will immediately call you. You can get the same at the bottom if every page where there's a Help link under Let Us Help You. It's really hidden there.

Your post proves retail is dead. Outdated retail workers like you just don't get it and apparently never will. This is why Amazon is kicking your butt and taking your job.

@fbm- I was by no means implying that Amazon is perfect. Any large company like that is going to have some issues. But for the most part, Amazon feels like a company that tries to keep it's customers happy. Sears seems to be doing the exact opposite. Compare reviews of Sears as a company to those of Amazon. Public perception is that Sears doesn't care about their customers.

1caz, yeah Amazon's customer service is amazing!!! Last time I had a problem with the order I had to Google their phone number as it was not possible to find it on their website... Additionally, good luck to you trying to return/exchange snowblower or a mattress. Additionally I had to cancel my prime membership that I never ordered as while placing the order I agreed for two day free shipping... I never got an invoice from them or even an order page for the Prime membership. They just went ahead and charged my credit card that they had on file. Have you heard about that type of customer service from Amazon?

I am not trying to say that Amazon is not a competitor to Sears. They do take our market share, but they also have tons of problems. Let's also not forget that their retail business is barely profitable.

Doesn't even matter one way or another. I have paid more for something through Amazon because I know that their customer service is amazing, and that any problems I encounter will be resolved quickly.

Sears price matches.

A little reading comprehension would go a long way. Amazon is not price matching. No need, they kick everyone else in the rear on customer service.

Ebay however is offering price matching.
