Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Go back to HP or HPE?

If laid off from DXC, is it possible to apply for a job at HP or HPE? Not saying it's the best option, but is it possible?

Also, if laid off from DXC, you can't reapply to another job within the company, right?

You can re-apply for a job. However, if you are given one within the first 12 months you will be liable to repay some or all of your redundancy package. (UK)

In Australia it is not possible to work for DXC (or any related entity) for a 12 month period. This however excludes HPI but I am informed that HPI is madly scrambling to offshore as many roles as possible to cheapshore locations.

At least in the US (do not know about other countries) there is a 1 year non-compete between DXC and HPE. This same arrangement also existed between HPE and HPI after that split. DXC internal or changing clients is allowed but I think there are some limits there as well depending on account. If you are DXC you would now be eligible to take a position with HPI. You will not be eligible to take a position with HPE till Apr 1 2018.

DXC severance is between 2 and 8 weeks, depending on years of service. I would have been better off being laid off by HPE before the merger 3 months ago. I'm sure the upper management will enjoy their bonuses.

I was told you can apply for DXC job again after severance time has expired. I would have to be really, really, desperate to consider going back to this company. Their benefits are sliding backward quick.

I've heard there is a hiring freeze for HPE on former ES workers that will last about a year. You can reapply to HPI though as I have heard someone do that.

I have not yet seen the severance offer, but the DXC recruiters were telling me that you could still apply to DXC jobs after a WFR. It's a different (and in a bad way) Severance than what HPE, HP and EDS offered.

Only dogs go back their own vomit.

I would steer clear of HPE and HPI. Once bitten twice shy. I took a contract in an IT Dept of a company that refuses to outsource. Love it.

The ES part of HPE got merged into DXC but Professional Services (PS), Enterprise Group (EG) and Technical Services (TS) remain in HPE.

Complete utter b---s---!

OP list DXC on your resume/cv. The company leaders might be sh-- bags but there are good and honest people working there. I know PLENTY of people who have landed many senior director level jobs who we're ex CSC. Given that HPE was doing marginally better than CSC it begs the question how they got the jobs. My alumni on LinkedIn show plenty of ex CSC staff having jobs with some very reputable firms.

Any arsehole telling you otherwise is bleeding sh--.

I don't think HPE exists anymore. It's merged with CSC to produce DXC.

There is no legal prohibition to keep you from applying at HP or HPE. But not back to DXC if you accept the terms of the severance offer. And just a word of encouragement: Do NOT list DXC on your resume. Having it glaring off the page is like advertising you have the crabs... no one wants to know, and if they do find out you'll be quarantined.
