Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Anyone else hearing this?

Just read this in another thread:

Hearing from Avaya partners that the suits by Oracle and Black Berry have slowed the Chap 11 significantly and may have pushed Chap 11 exit away, leading to Chapter 7. Hearing from many disgruntled partners that Avaya is taking sales direct and undercutting partners, not providing support to partners for sales opportunities, and chasing deals they ignored 6 months ago.

Any truth to this?

Really?

First, Oracle and BlackBerry commentary from the partners is speculation. The same speculation that said Oracle was buying Avaya last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and....

Second, unless thing are different in other regions, everything is running about the same as they have a year ago. Are some deals stalling? Sure, that is expected. And those reps will look to fill those gaps with other deals, so I'm sure the mix of deal size is a little different. But that is just sales 101. If a big deal stalls, find another or a few smaller ones to take its place.

Thirdly, taking deals direct does not make a sales team more successful. In fact it is a lot more work for the sales team. It is much more efficient to use partners as it allows the sales team to cover more deals and therefore bring in more revenue. When we do take a deal direct, it is because we have a clear reason to do so. A customer request to go direct is by far the most common reason. Those rules have been in place for a long time and have not changed.

Look, this has been hard on Avayas partners as well. Many have seen their sales take a hit. Some more than others. However, a few are really doing well, and I'd bet the stories they are telling are very different from what you are hearing.

Literally everything you posted is a lie. It's fun looking at the comments from the inside out, seeing how wrong and sometimes borderline pathetic some of you are. We'll be out of Ch11 by start of FY18 at the latest, have new owners, new leadership, and hopefully soon after become a publicly traded company again.

I make one jab about fake news and my post gets removed? What does that tell you about the credibility of this information.

Of course it's true. Think about it. Blackberry lawsuit @$1 billion. Other crazy debts that reduce the value of owning this company. The creditors are pushing for liquidation and Avaya is trying desperately to keep it afloat. Pissing off partners is not the way to do this. Sales are way down and will continue to slide. It's just a matter time before chapt 7
