The environment up at surmount is bad. I did not make the cut, left today. What I heard from coworkers who still have their jobs , they have no faith in the company. It would be best to sell it for everyone. Give them a stable company.

I have never heard of a company getting rid of the people directly keeping operation of a plant going. And keeping teams on that don't even make any sense why they are needed out there. But I guess it is nice that the "Surmont Parfitt trail task force team" is still there to let them know the trail is still on. That should help increase profits. CPC management is a joke.
surmont slimeballs at the top... protecting their "crew"! Hoping for a new owner and maybe an FLT ( what a joke) !
You're only identified as a "best player" if you sniff butts.
Amazing how many bag licking "buddies" and "gents" are left behind. Only regret I have is being loyal and hardworking for such an unappreciative company for so many years. Only reason I was let go this round is because they ran out of knee pads in the warehouse.
There was about 100 people from site let go.
How many got cut on site?
I am happy that got good severance package
Hard hitting expats? Good one... It was an American that is responsible for managing a thermal project that had one of the highest cost over runs ever seen in Oil Sands game.
This round at Surmont was an atonement for it being completely unmolested last time. They bring in some hard hitting US expats and clean this place up. Toughen up snowflakes. Cared too much for the people, forgetting they had a business to run. Gotta be profitable to survive, Canada can't always be a charity case for corporate to keep dumping good capital into.
I am sure PL will sleep just fine
Best wishes to you. Enjoy every moment of your time away.
Maybe if they looked closer at the leadership the company wouldn't be a sinking ship. All other companies are starting to pick up and CPC is doing round after round.......poor leadership and poor planning. Another 6 months and then they have another round planned....
No faith, no trust, and no loyalty. I still have a job but I have no belief in my leadership to steer the ship to smoother waters. For now though I'll remain a "happy" employee to all the c---roaches watching, but I'm done with this company. I hope Surmont is sold, if not the first chance I can find I'm jumping ship.
Good thing we they still have that wrld class field leadership team.
Even in yyc it's bad.
You dont need faith as long as you are getting paid
Sorry to hear about your situation.
You are now in a non -toxic state.
Good luck to you
