Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Inconsistent management

I'm a BT associate in a fairly good size store. I'm on my 5th sales manager in 6 years. Unless you count the million dollar seller in my dept. He seems to get his way all the time.

Case in point: customer arrives in search of outdoor furniture. Spends 2 hours with me. Selects and purchases from me. Unbeknownst to me, customer had just canceled (online) a set he purchased from said million dollar seller.

Now, since the million dollar seller is a cowardly jerk, he says nothing to me and b--ches to the SM. Said SM approaches me and asks my story, so I tell it. SM then relates story to million dollar seller who doesn't agree as he's a million dollar seller and used to getting his way. He screams to the HR manager, who just so happens to be a friend of his.

Guess who got screwed out of a commission? Yep! According to my SM, it's his deal because he sold them originally. Even though they didn't say a word about having been in prior...AND ADMITTED THAT WHEN THE SALES MANAGER CALLED THEM.

Gotta keep that million dollar guy happy! It's no wonder people quit this company rather than be transferred to this store to manage. It's impossible to do your job when you're not really in charge.

Managers Care nothing for anyone other than themselves and their top producer. Everyone else can pound sand.

That's the magic of Macy's.
