Great way to cut costs and eliminate some dead wood. Really.

My new young ETL , just told me "the old maids in the back room need to go".
Can't really say it is illegal, but there have been many cases in TTS where they have moved "older" team members into a new position (not by the employee's choice) and then a few months later they have the talk with them that they are not performing at the level expected. So the employee either ends up quitting on their own or they are terminated due to performance.
Not illegal, but a pretty nasty way to get rid of higher paid people who were being successful had they been able to continue in their previous roles.
Would be nice if younger workers show up at work before 10am, not be hung over and spend less work time playing foosball.
Look around, do you see a large population of 50+ year old Target TM's that could be early retirement candidates? Uhhh nope....
These younger workers are lazy and won't bring their arses to work
Older workers refuse to learn how to use a computer...
Older workers = loyal and dedicated,
Ok, I'll night:
1) how would this be cheaper for tgt????
2) illegally fired?
Seriously, this would be cheap for Target. They already illegally fired most of us.
Except that for the most part the new wave will never see a pension..... Millennials are so entitled though.....
It's what companies that are trying to transform have to do. The older, pension eligible, workers who don't want to adapt to a new strategy get some reward for previous good work and company gets to replace higher paid workers with lower cost and ambitious youth. Perfect fit for everyone. Bonus for Target, new workers get no pension benefits.
Right, FYI They leave on their own. Read Targets pension financials sometime. Huge dollars sitting there that few bother to collect. It's been like this long before the recent hard times for retail.
