I'm in a different Spectrum call center of similar size. John Bickham, Tom Adams and a bunch of other execs visited here today for no apparent reason. Did these guys visit Palm Desert before the announcement was made? How long before?

Let's put this into perspective everyone. First of all, it will get everyone through the summer. At minimum, full pay is being continued for nearly half a year. This site actually had the lowest turnover of all sites in it's department. Time off was granted based on your accrued bank. If you used it all and had no vacation or sick time left, you may have been denied, but the business only functions when employees are in the seats taking calls. "He" is not responsible for the loss of 200+ jobs. What he is responsible for is the higher commission payouts you have all enjoyed as a result of increased efficiency, support and communication. This absolutely is stressful. Nobody likes to see so many jobs lost but as customers demand stable service prices and even the lowering of those prices, business formats must be adjusted to cut costs. They are also bringing jobs into the country by discontinuing contracts with third parties. It is an unfortunate situation. No single person made the decision. Be thankful for the generous severance packages you received. Take the time to better yourself, rather than post blatant lies anonymously.

This place had an unusually high turnover rate, even for a call center. Agents were not allowed time off even for important things, then when they took the time, were written up or fired. The answer given for this center closing was because they want centers that could hold more people. This call center was consistently ranked as one of the top in the country but was not allowed to stay open due to size. The severance package offered won't make up for the sudden realization that 216 people now have no job and no prospect of a job. Used up in that high stress environment and discarded.

200 people were laid off at the customer retention call center in Palm Desert, CA located at 41725 Cook Street. The reason? Incompetence. Moral was low before this, very low. The guy running the place is responsible for high stress employee turnover starting with Time Warner Cable when he ran the Cable Stores. The Call Center would use up employees at high rate thus costing the company more than the center was bringing in.
