Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Ousourcing of Executive Functions

It's unfortunate that they can't realize the huge savings of outsourcing the board of directors and chairman roles to India in order to realize a cost savings. They could pay an outsourced CEO and board $1000 USD/wk (enough for a pampered life), and get leadership that would be no worse than what they are overpaying for now. Maybe Nelson Peltz can push for this once he fires Immelt & friends.

I like this idea - it has not been done before and it's innovative - the GE Way!

Nelson Peltz and other shareholders may demand it once upper level management still fails to deliver the required savings even after cutting key employees. They'll eat the golden goose, then what? Golden parachute time!

Upper level management will never outsource their own jobs. As a matter of fact, they are mandated to cut costs and if they do, there's huge bonus money in it for them. See link below. So when you get laid off, you're putting $$ in management's pocket and securing their jobs. It's dog eat dog at GE. Employee morale is taking a beating.

Wait until not enough folks volunteer for the severance being offered because the job market isn't strong enough for them to find a replacement job. Involuntary layoffs will happen for the obvious reason of ensuring the bonuses of management. And Kate Johnson has the nerve to blog about trust of all things.

I agree 100%. All we hear is how great it is to be a "Global" company. It's ok to globalize other people's jobs. They never consider to outsource their own job.
